Still a little early, nevertheless, here we go after 2 years of stealth; Hello World from “BitMach” 🙌 A few words on BitMach, Eskom, and why Bitcoin mining matters for South Africa. Note: This isn’t about “crypto”. It’s about infrastructure! This is Bitcoin’s Proof-of-Work protocol; Where math, physics and energy immutably stores your time and energy…attributes of Bitcoin I love most! South Africa’s electricity story has quietly entered a new chapter, one that many people don’t yet understand, and understandably so. For the first time in decades, South Africa is not short of generation. We are short of flexibility, transmission capacity, and demand management. Eskom is transitioning from energy generation being the focus, to energy orchestration. What does this mean? We now have: • Massive private investment in renewables • Solar and wind capacity growing faster than the grid • Surplus energy at certain times of day • Congestion at others What we don’t have is load demand that can respond INSTANTLY…in a modular, decentralized and systematic manner. That’s the gap Bitcoin mining fills. Bitcoin miners are not factories. They are highly architecturally customizable programmable electrical loads. Our Bitcoin mines (ASICS): • Turn on in seconds • Turn off in seconds • Scale up or down continuously (intelligently) • Absorb surplus power • Disappear when the grid needs relief No smelter can do this. No data centre can do this. No industrial load can do this…except Bitcoin mining. At BitMach, we are raising billions (this is gigawatts of demand-response) and working with Eskom to deploy mining as grid infrastructure, not speculation. That means: • Monetising surplus electricity that would otherwise be wasted • Relieving transmission congestion • Supporting renewable build-out without waiting years for new lines • Providing real, measurable demand response • Improving grid stability…not undermining it This is how modern grids work globally. - Texas (ERCOT). - PJM in the US Northeast. - Parts of Scandinavia. South Africa is now joining that conversation…in a uniquely South African way. Importantly, Bitcoin mining does not compete with households or industry during peak demand. It runs when power is abundant. It shuts down when power is scarce. It gets paid to help the grid…not harm it. This also unlocks renewables; Today, many solar and wind projects are constrained not by capital, but by grid access. Flexible demand allows renewable energy to be built ahead of transmission upgrades…safely. Bitcoin mining becomes the bridge. Eskom has made enormous progress over the past year. Stability has improved. Operations have improved. Confidence is slowly returning. What comes next is not just fixing yesterday’s problems but designing tomorrow’s system. BitMach exists to help that work…quietly, technically, and responsibly. This is not about ideology. It’s about engineering, economics, and national capability. South Africa has world-class energy engineers. World-class renewable resources. And now, the opportunity to build a smarter grid. More to come…but always grounded in facts, data, and respect for the system, our country and our people 🙌🇿🇦⚡️ P.S. Special shout-out to @DSBatten who inspired and informed much of our work. "Some empowering thoughts and simple things for everyone and anyone: - Do not borrow against your Bitcoin - Learn how to take your Bitcoin out of a Custodian. - Commit to own your Bitcoin in self-custody. Not collaborative-custody. - Become a part of the Resistance. Run a Bitcoin node. Your node is the Network. - Ignore price of Bitcoin. Earn and buy it regardless of the price today. - Spend less than you earn. Save the difference in Bitcoin - Commit to own more Bitcoin this month than last month. Do that for 4 years. Thats the 4 year challenge. Every month for 4 years. - It's a journey. You don't need to get all of this right away. It's overwhelming, it's information overload, it's crazy. Be willing to be overwhelmed. Join a community. It's a journey" - @SimonDixonTwitt
