It's #WorldMonkeyDay 🐒🐒🐒 Here from the Clarke Charms Collection we have two soapstone 'Silent Monkeys' 🙊. A popular good luck charm durning WW1, one of which was carried by a Scarborough soldier during the Great War.

Although they're extinct, we're still learning about this brilliant bird. Our collection holds six amazing great auk eggs – one is almost 250 years old! In 2017, we started a project with @sheffielduni to study the eggs, which is teaching us about the bird's breeding ecology🤯

Finally, a question: #thylacines differ from other #marsupials in that their collar bones (clavicles) have shrunk & their epipubic bones (struts pointing forwards from the pelvis) are cartilage. So what are the bones at top right? Are they too small even for #thylacine clavicles?
