@SubwayUK very disappointing. Took my daughter in for a sub, you have put in machines to order from. Being able to see the actual prep was always a strength - one way or another we ended up with a sub with no cheese, un toasted, no veggy patty, red onions which she doesn't like.

@Kalil_R91 You can't really expect before and after school within 1265 - that's a leadership role. And some pastoral roles are by definition already tied up probably at break times.

Anyone know of a school that managed to significantly improve the whole staff culture around duties at break times and pre/post-school? Anyone care to share the gems that managed to bring about change? i.e. how to get staff to BE THERE(!)...on time(!)...and be proactive.

@mrJ_JonesPE @Kalil_R91 Works better if staff choose when, and indicate preferences, and the organiser chooses the where, using some common sense.

@Kalil_R91 Our place tried letting staff sign up to duty locations and it turned into only the nice ks3 indoor slots being taken and the lead having to chase to fill the less favourable spots, not an easy thing, paid lunch duties works for us but still not enough do them

@Kalil_R91 @IlonaPatchesa 2/2 Then I would draft the rota, & deal with the inevitable glitches caused by staff suddenly remembering they didn't actually work on Wednesdays etc etc. This worked quite well because the worst clashes were avoided eg teach 5/5, and a duty too.

Or a variation - used MS forms to get staff to indicate choices 1-3 and XX out any slots they couldn't do, also they could add comments like inside/outside/library, 3rd floor etc. I would check everyone had filled it in 1/2

I'm sorry but this 'school ready' stuff infuriates me. For a start, Reception year is meant to be early years provision not school! If children aren't 'ready' we have to adapt the system to meet their needs not make more demands of children and settings.

@arrivaessex what happened to this bus, please? Was timetabled but didn't arrive and is not on bus tracker. I am teaching a teenager to use buses. Not a good start, first try and it never turned up!
