Please don't. Please don't blame mental illness. Please don't blame us because we don't blame back. Instead, please ask. Ask who we are, what we need. Ask as though for once you care. Ask what a trigger finger could do without a trigger. @LeaderMcConnell @GOPLeader @POTUS

@MarloWordyBird @TheJR Maybe veteran Bob can go as a mentor to a new friend, just like you’re going as an experienced OOO but also trying out new things? The inter-generational nature of the work on board is one of my favorite things about the JR and arguably one of the keys to its lasting success.

These kaleidoscopic images show rock ground down to about ~30um thickness (0.03mm). Luan Heywood, thin section lab tech, helps #EXP392 scientists to see the properties of minerals that make up the rocks we are recovering.#NSFfunded

@johngcapano, I heard about your work on how snakes manage to breathe while constricting prey by using different sections of their ribs on @NPR. I was disappointed that there weren’t photos of your study subjects with the blood pressure cuffs and helmets. Could you share? Thanks!

@GardMurray @LauraJSefton @YoungMongols @AubreyMenard Whoa small world. I was just reading through all these supportive tweets for you, Laura. I, too, quit my PhD. Now I’m teaching high school. I saw Aubrey tagged and thought, that can’t be the same Aubrey Menard I went to Smith with?! But it is! Cheers to all our courageous paths!

@LauraJSefton From your blog, I know you're worried this means your work will never be shared with the world—but that doesn't need to be true. The first of my grad school friends to publish a (terrific!) book chose to stop at the MPhil (@YoungMongols by the brilliant @AubreyMenard).

@KeepItRheol @RowanMartindale @HendrattaAli @BarbaraFantechi Christie is one the best writing mentors (well, among the best mentors in general) I’ve ever had. She gets the high-level and nitty gritty but gives you the level of feedback you need when you need it. I imagine all this is even better 6 years on! (Still inspired by you.)

Me a young woman of color: "academia is ruthless" All men: "Shape up or ship out" "Work harder" "That's how academia is" "You chose this" "Industry is worse" Listen I get that you don't want academia to change because its toxic culture is perfect for you but SIT DOWN.

Thanks, @LauraFayeTen, for another edifying Science in the Virtual Pub session! You are an amazingly resilient communicator. Thank you for standing up for the facts. I have lots of good ideas to bring to my future students! #scicomm
