@anymanfitness Not necessarily a lie depending on other factors of course. I’m currently dieting with my daughter (she had thyroid cancer, it messed her up). 1K calorie daily limit. She’s losing weight, I’m gaining. We are also hitting the gym - I assume mine is muscle weight despite low cal 🤷‍♀️

The mask of privilege often prevents people from seeing things from a different perspective. For many men, changing a surname feels trivial because they have never been expected to give up theirs. But imagine a system where you marry someone and, as part of the tradition, you must abandon the name you have carried all your life and take theirs instead your identity quietly absorbed into someone else’s lineage. Historically, this practice emerged from systems where wives were legally and socially subsumed under their husbands. So when some women describe it as a form of erasure, they are not saying every marriage is oppressive; they are pointing out the legacy behind the custom. What feels like a small symbolic change to one person can represent the loss of identity and history to another. That difference in experience is exactly what privilege can make difficult to see.

Stormwind was the first city we ever built. Our lead programmer had it load and play the song "We built this city" to our surprise when we first loaded in. The first version of Stormwind had no districts or canals. The framerate was below terrible. Then I thought of Venice. I grabbed a map of the city and slapped it down on the table the next morning. THIS, I said, is how we'll partition the city, drawing only the district you can see, separated by canals. It worked, and Stormwind was born.
