No club promoted from the National League has been relegated from the Football League in their first season since automatic promotion was introduced in 1986/87, with the tally now reaching 59 clubs🤯 The record remains intact following victories yesterday for both Barnet and Oldham, the two sides promoted last season🙌

@DaveyMcGravy @EFL Interesting view point, I’ve also seen floated the idea that NL is actually L3 now. But I don’t agree with expanding the league pyramid for similar reasons to your argument. I just think there’s too much quality in NL to be allowing teams like Newport to scrape by every year.

@Scudz @EFL I feel it should be hard to get into the EFL and therefore more jeopardy for getting relegated. Personally, I think 2up/down is as it should be despite the fact I’d like Newport to get relegated as we (Gillingham) always seem to get beat by them!

The fact that there’s still 21(!) points for both Rochdale and York to play for is mind blowing. One of these teams could be on 110+ points and could still NOT be promoted. This is happening too often now. Time for three up, three down @EFL (an EFL team fan) #rafc #ycfc

@Giantdaz72 @EFL I’m always interested to hear logic. I don’t see how 3 up, 3 down doesn’t increase competition and quality in L2 Using last season as the example. Why do Newport County (avg 4.2k att.), 49 points in 46 games deserve the place over York (avg 6.5k att.) with 96 points in 46 games?

@DaveyMcGravy @EFL But you can argue that both ways. ‘Should’ Newport or Crawley be a league club for example? York, Carlisle, Southend, Scunthorpe … all in non league? Every club deserves a go at L2 if they earn it. But 2 up, 2 down allows L2 teams to scrape by. Newport for example.

@Scudz @EFL The top 3 are what I would class as old EFL though. Most historic ‘non-league’ teams that got promoted are now back there ie Sutton, FGR, Boston, Macclesfield , Morecambe and now, possibly, Harrogate and Barrow

@DaveyMcGravy @EFL Last season in league two, as an example. My club (Bradford) got promoted automatically with 78 points. Wimbledon went up via the play offs on 73 points. Carlisle have 21 still to play for and will probably finish on 85+ . A very good return compared to other similar leagues.

@yorkiewill @EFL Agreed, was saying yesterday if they picked 6 teams from NL be it based on size, performance, financial position. And took the 6 teams “worst” from L2. It’d be better. With the quality in NL you can make a case for it to be L3. But difficult without punishing semi pro clubs.

@Scudz @EFL I would argue its actually worse for League 2 how it currently is the bottom half is so poor some more competition & movement of teams would increase the standard.

@yorkiewill @EFL 100% agree. Had a ticket to the game yesterday and City never got out of 3rd gear. Comfortable and easily better than most of league two.

@TheOfficialFNG Played every year for a solid 6-7 years. Ultimate team mostly. But last year I lost my patience with the game and franchise. UT is copy and paste annually. Should be a monetised free game if they keep same trajectory. Other modes generally neglected so I’ve outplayed the novelty.
