幕張メッセで開催された2025年フォトニクス・電磁波工学研究に関するシンポジウム開会式に出席。 世界各国から光・電磁波・情報通信技術分野の著名な研究者が1,000人以上の規模で集まり、11/9まで開催される国際会議です。 天皇陛下からもご挨拶を頂き、私も開催県の知事として歓迎の挨拶をしました。 ここ最近、英語での挨拶が続いておりましたが、これでひと段落。少しほっとしました。 国際会議や国際展示会を誘致することで、宿泊など様々な経済波及効果をもたらし、国際・国内相互の人や情報の流通、ネットワークの構築、集客力などはビジネスや研究環境の向上につながり、都市の競争力、ひいては、国の競争力向上につながります。 日本を代表する国際会議場を持つ県として、今後も積極的に国際会議等の誘致に取り組んでいきます。

This is devastating. Two of our fellow New Yorkers lost their lives in the recent storm. My heart breaks for their families. But then I see Zohran's crocodile tears about lack of infrastructure upgrades knowing he is in favor of rushing to pack people into flood-prone housing regardless. Under the City of Yes, this risk becomes more widespread and more dangerous, and yet Cuomo and Mamdani are both all in on this terrible plan. NYC's elected officials are never proactive on storms, only reactive. Our infrastructure hasn’t kept pace, and every heavy rain brings flooding and tragedy. We need real preparation, real investment in drainage, sewers, and tree maintenance, and real accountability. Lives depend on it. I'll deliver it. The rest will maintain status quo and will once again offer nothing but empty platitudes the next time tragedy strikes.
