Are you sure they weren't just trying to say that you dresss as a wizard on the weekends and go and pretend to shoot fireballs at people with pretend armor. Because ima be honest, I've never LARPed but it does sound kinda rad. It's also the only situation I would totally be able to insert "I put on my robe and wizards hat" and people might get it/laugh.

I've been working in tech since before Windows 2000 was released, some twat who turned up grifting calling me a LARP is fucking deluded..... The first malware removal I did in a company was FORM and we used floppy disks to do so.... it's absolutely insane what some of these grifters say.... (it's kind of funny but also kind of sad) I don't really care (e.g. they can say whatever about my career, they are fucking clueless) other than I see how they operate and people literally get scammed by them..... This industry is here to protect people from scammers, yet it itself is a huge magnet for grifting wankers.

I have $100 to spend at Barnes and Noble tomorrow. I have a family member having tests done, and I have four hours to burn at the store. I have a 5th edition D&D PHB for my gaming library. That’s it. I’m trying to decide what to spend the money on. I’m not interested in 5e as a system. But supplements might work. I’m also in to Cthulhu, but I don’t have any books. Any suggestions? My library rebuild starts now.

@PulpLibrarian Remember this novel series was hugely popular with GenX. When we were kids. I remember seeing kids in 6th grade my school reading it. I read most of it around 11-12.

Flowers In The Attic (1987). It was quite a challenge to adapt the V.C. Andrews bestseller for the big screen. Multiple screenplays were drafted, including one by Wes Craven, which Andrews rejected. The final version was given a hastily made alternative ending after test audiences reacted badly to it, and the result is a film that's still eerie enough but it's quite plodding and to be blunt a bit boring. It feels more telenovela than gothic horror, playing on the novel's shock factor without actually being that shocking.

@UK_Daniel_Card That seems about right. In my last open RDP honeypot we were getting around that per hour. First one showed up 3 minutes after the system was brought up.

Dragon's Lair is by far the best gaming store chain in Omaha. I found a used LotR Risk set, some old school metal minis, and some other board and card games for my son. Huzzah!

@YoDanno The 2nd DMG cover image (orange spine) shows the different picture but has the same description about the City of Brass and Efreet. I had never seen the 1st cover, so as a kid I hunted that image for a long time trying to find the City.

Early D&D products were built on the backs of Gary Gygax’s writing, and David C Sutherland III’s art. This is the full painting for the 1979 D&D Dungeon Master’s Guide. The scene depicts adventurers in the City of Brass on the Elemental Plane of Fire, confronting a giant Efreet.

In 1977, TSR artist Dave Sutherland brought D&D monsters to life when he painted this wraparound cover for the first Monster Manual. That castle in the clouds….boy that grabbed my attention so fast!

@chillcryptworld I've always wanted to try this. I think a modern equivalent may be They Came From Beneath the Sea or They Came From Beyond the Grave

I've stopped nearly 100% of cyber attacks using this 1 simple trick. I open all ports on the computer. I never update the OS. I removed all passwords. When hackers find the computer they say, "This has to be fake. No one is this vulnerable." Then they turn around and LEAVE.
