I didn’t join the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I placed my faith in Joseph Smith. I joined because I placed my trust in Jesus Christ, who called me by name and said, “Come, follow me.” I strive to be biblically literate. I affirm the scriptures as the inspired word of God, while recognizing that ultimate authority belongs to God and to Christ, not to the text itself. I am aware of the Church’s history and its beginnings, and my testimony is strengthened. But my faith is not built on history. It rests on the witness of the Holy Spirit and the lived reality of Christ’s love. My faith is not founded on the righteousness of men, nor is it undone by their sins. I place my trust in Almighty God, in His Son Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Spirit, who bears witness of them.

I don’t know how people can smoke cigarettes. I can’t even go near the smell without wanting to puke.

@sister_slay In the year of our Lord 2026, knowing everything we know about smoking, I’m always surprised when I see someone light up. I don’t mind the scent though. I much prefer it to pot.

The fact that Mormons believe God was once a man who died and came back to life is still mind boggling to me

@MarinasHammer My thoughts are that it is not within my stewardship to decide, and I sustain those who have been called to lead. I'm not serving in the St. George stake and don't have knowledge of the needs there or hie to minister in that community.

Scripture teaches that spiritual truth is known through revelation, not argued into existence: “The natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God… neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” (1 Corinthians 2:14) “For God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit…” (1 Corinthians 2:10) “Flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 16:17) “He that is of God heareth God’s words…” (John 8:47) “If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine…” (John 7:17) Truth is revealed, discerned, and received, not merely argued.

I’m not threatened by questions, history, or criticism of the Church. Truth doesn’t collapse under scrutiny. But my faith was never anchored in arguments to begin with. It was anchored in personal witness to the Savior Jesus Christ.

@mcristo1844 But a spiritual manifestation of JC does not equate to "I know the church is true". That's what I'm trying to point out. If they also claim a distinct spiritual manifestation specifically about the church, that's another matter, and not a non-sequitur.

This post demonstrates a big problem I have with LDS testimonies and epistemology. Mormons will say that their testimony is anchored in a witness of Jesus Christ, but then use that as a reason to not doubt their sect. That's a non sequitur. ...

I have felt what I cannot manufacture: conviction, repentance, mercy, and the unmistakable presence of the Holy Ghost bearing witness of the Father and the Son. If everything else were stripped away, that witness would remain. I follow Jesus Christ. That is the foundation. That is the reason. That is enough.

@KintsugiJin I have been a member for two years now, and not once have I had the honor of being assigned to clean the meeting house. Next week, I'm taking my Dyson and pushing in.

I wonder how do we feel about this future brothers & sisters? Just finished major church cleaning today and thought about this. Would it be better to offload this invitation to our AI driven robot future or do we continue doing it ourselves to retain an aspect of humanity found within this sacred duty? Find a poll below, and comment your thinking.

This episode where a feminist whines about conservative "scheming" to sell women on being a trad wife. Cut to a homesteading wife who chops wood and builds fences while her husband washes dishes. She says that the trad wife homesteading asthetic is a lie and it's really hard on women. Chick, y'all aren't doing it right. youtu.be/dZ-Hsh1B2TA?si…

I wore this tag a little while ago on my mission in Idaho. Then I gave it to my lil bro to wear on his mission in SF. My dad wore it on his senior mission in Park City. Tomorrow I give it to my own son to wear in Riverside. Hopefully it holds up for my last 2 boys 🙏

Ask open-ended questions, and make sure they are truly open-ended. If someone asks seemingly open-ended questions, but already have the "right answer" ready for correction, that will kill a discussion. If there's only one acceptable answer in your mind or you're trying to get across specific concept, just say it and don't put it in question form. Bad questions: “Why is it important that we always obey immediately?” → “So we show faith.” → “Right, exactly—that’s the point.” (discussion shuts down) “What does this teach us about trusting God?” → “That we should trust Him.” → “Yes—that’s what I was looking for.” (fishing for a preset answer) “How does this prove that prayer always works?” → “Because God answers prayers.” → (any deviation gets corrected) “What should we learn from Nephi’s obedience?” → “We should obey like Nephi.” (predictable, narrow) Great questions (truly open-ended → invites reflection, multiple answers): “What stands out to you in this passage, and why?” → “The phrase ‘remember him’ stands out because it feels like an ongoing action, not just once.” “How might this principle show up in real life this week?” → “Being more patient with my kids when I’m stressed.” “What do you think the author intended us to notice here?” → “That obedience often comes before understanding.” “Have you ever experienced something like this? What was it like?” → “Yes—when I had to make a decision without clarity, I just moved forward in faith.” “What questions does this verse raise for you?” → “Why does God sometimes delay answers?”

How do you offer a lesson in elders quorum / relief society without coming across as preachy? What works for you? Whenever I give a lesson (which has been only twice before) I always feel like the group is annoyed and disconnected. What strategies work for you to have an engaged meeting that bears fruit from the discussion?
