I hate that we live in a world where we have to question people willing to help , to avoid complaints/trial by social media, even at the cost of our own safety.

1/2 Out yesterday with my partner and saw a cop struggling with an unruly gentleman. Stepped in to offer my assistance and the officer more concerned with a "MOP" getting involved and hurt than for their own safety. After presenting my warrant card I could see the relief

Allow officers to protect the public , allow officers to protect themselves, allow officers to do their jobs

Seeing what happend yesterday in London , and then seeing forces refusing Tazer training to both regulars and specials blows my mind. Maybe there aren't knifes , swords or people out to do harm in the ivory towers of HQs across the country. #TrainUs #ProtectTheProtectors

@SecretSpecialSC In my time our we had caps instead of helmets and a large badge on uniform arms stating Special Constable. We were not allowed to drive police vehicles and had wooden truncheon instead of the then new asp batons. Times have changed..

Terrified by the number of SCs I see on here considering resignation due to lack of training or support from our regular counterparts. I consider myself lucky , I've got my response driving booked and am shielded from the politics. But more needs to be done for us. #Special

Some of the replies to this post are really disappointing. These women have stepped up and shown an interest in one of the most challenging roles in policing. They deserve our respect, not insults and abuse.

Our women firearms officers are assessed to the same standard as their male colleagues. They complete the same fitness tests, the same officer safety training and the same shooting assessments.

@PatsyeStevenson Patsy , I've held a mother's hand as her son took his last breaths . I've arrested rapists , murderers , and I've rescued men and women from domestic violence. If that makes me a B****rd thats fine by me ! Have a great day with your childish views.
