After a lot of requests, we're offering Lifetime Pro one last time before Secria VPN launches. $699, one-time, yours forever. The funds go directly into VPN infrastructure. Public beta starts next week. Thanks for the support!

@R3st4rtY0urL1f3 @JimD326 @DoingFedTime Fair point! We've updated the TOS. Section 4 no longer asks for "accurate and up-to-date information," and Section 6 now specifically targets impersonation rather than vaguely prohibiting "misrepresenting your identity." The wording now reflects what we actually enforce.

How are you going to verify eligibility without KYC? Who are you using to verify eligibility? If you don’t want the users legal name, then you should put on there “Display Name”. When I read your TOS, you say “…accurate and up-to-date information during registration…” and your very first field you ask for during registration is “Name”. Your remarks and TOS are at odds. I’m not saying this isn’t internal policy but from literal look at it, your TOS is asking for legal name. One thing privacy advocates look at is TOS and Privacy Policy. What you say your practice is and what your written policy states are 2 different things. When they differ, we often default to what’s written. That is what lawyers will use.

@hackerschoice @ProtonPrivacy They save every part of metadata, and read your email (it's how they can tell if it's spam). They've handed over 32,000 people's info; they have a compliance rate of 98% with any request. For the people who say 'they have to' go google Tuta's.

"Name" in our policy is a display name, we don't ask for your legal name at signup. Call yourself whatever you want. "Accurate information" means a working email so we can reach you for security alerts, and "misrepresent identity" is anti-impersonation, not anti-pseudonym. Section 2 eligibility is about age, not identity we don't KYC and have no mechanism to. On payments, we use Stripe/Apple like every accessible privacy service. No card details stored. We do accept crypto via direct requests and we are working on implementing crypto payments native to our app. Our zero-knowledge architecture means even if you correlate a payment to an account, the content is still unreadable.

Comparisons the thief of joy. In this case, not exactly a good bar to reach for. Their privacy policy has a couple holes. They offload payment to a 3rd party processor. For PCI-DSS compliance. You can give a fictitious name but plan activation and payment time can be correlated really quick. They don’t offer crypto payment because see above They also require a name, even on free tier. They also can terminate your account for giving fictitious names. Their TOS, which is accessible only at the signup page, section 2 they claim they reserve the right to verify eligibility. So they can, in effect, KYC your account. So no, they’re no better than Proton. If you’re not a US citizen, this can seemingly offer the same protection Proton offers. The added friction of gaining a US lawful order that your local government must utilize.

🚨 Researchers discovered a new way to bypass Apple’s memory protections. The flaw comes from Apple’s save-and-load system always behaving the same way, making it easier for attackers to predict and exploit. #Privacy #CyberSecurity #Apple
