In celebration of the Jewish Holiday of #Purim, I was honored to join a group of Holocaust Survivors at a luncheon this week, sponsored by @SelfhelpNY. It is always a pleasure to engage with the older adults in my community.

Today, members of @SelfhelpNY NORC toured @NYHistory "New York Sari" Exhibition. Grateful that NORC members got to learn more about the sari and the women behind them that shaped New York City, including my mother and Council Member @ShahanaFromBK!

Wednesday was a marathon day of advocacy for Resident Assistance in affordable senior housing for LeadingAge NY, @liveonny, @WSFSSH, & @SelfhelpNY! TY @LindaBRosenthal, @SenatorCCleare, & more for speaking with us about this key program to help older NYers age safely in place.

From home health aides who stayed overnight with clients to social workers conducting wellness checks, our partners — including @14StreetY's Project ORE, @SelfhelpNY, Shames JCC, @JCCstatenisland, and @MarksJCH — are helping seniors safely weather the storm.

Thank you to @SpeakerMenin for visiting the @SelfhelpNY Rosenthal OAC in Flushing to discuss issues important to the AAPI community, including affordable housing. Proud to serve as her Deputy Leader and look forward to advancing an ambitious agenda to make NYC livable for all.

I allocated funding to @SelfhelpNY to provide free transportation for older adults to and from their medical appointments. The program is open to all District 20 residents, not just members of Selfhelp. Call (718) 559-4352 the morning before your trip to reserve a ride.

Many older adults in our community haven't made preparations for what will happen to their property and other belongings after their passing. Thanks to @nylag for co-hosting an Estate Planning Workshop with me fat the @SelfhelpNY Rosenthal OAC to help them start planning.

The @SelfhelpNY Martin Lande Senior Residence gives hundreds of older adults the opportunity to live in Flushing in a community where they are welcome and supported. Thanks to $850K secured by @RepGraceMeng for much-needed repairs, it will continue to do so for years to come.

Proud to deliver $850,000 in federal funding for @SelfhelpNY's Martin Lande House! Making sure Queens seniors have the resources they need is one of my top priorities in Congress. These federal dollars will support the great work SelfHelp is already doing to provide safe, comfortable spaces for seniors in our community.

For Deborah, 75, @SelfhelpNY's Virtual Senior Center has been a lifeline — turning isolation into purpose and joy. We’re honored that UJA’s long-standing partnership with The @nytimes Communities Fund helps make programs like this possible for thousands of older New Yorkers.

We had another successful legal clinic last night with @SelfhelpNY! We are so proud that our office funds this important program, ensuring everyone in our community can access the legal support and advance life planning they need.

Last week, @MorganStanley brought together a great crowd to discuss the future of #WorkforceHousing in NY.  Keynote speakers + expert panelists discussed the importance of collaboration, good design & creative financing.

Thanks to @SelfhelpNY, @NYPD109Pct & @NYC_DOI for partnering with my office on a workshop to share tips, such as freezing benefits cards between purchases and how to spot an EBT skimming device, with seniors at Latimer Gardens to help them avoid becoming a victim of SNAP theft.

We’re incredibly grateful to once again be included as a beneficiary of the @nytimes Communities Fund. This year, our organization is spotlighting two amazing programs - the @SelfhelpNY Virtual Senior Center and workforce development at @Commonpoint_Qns.

Thrilled that my team joined @SelfhelpNY to break ground on the Perennial Building! This new home will build on their great work and vital services they provide to New Yorkers.

It was truly special to be in Forest Hills for the groundbreaking of The Perennial. This project will bring 145 affordable homes for older adults and families, while also creating a new home for the Forest Hills Jewish Center. As someone who went to school right next door, I know firsthand how much of an eyesore the abandoned hospital had become. I’m glad to see it transformed into something that will uplift and serve our community. Grateful to @SelfhelpNY and all the partners who helped turn this vision into reality.
