@barri_samb@bitfield I totally agree with you (I'm biased, I use Python every day for work), but I think Python's popularity is only in its infancy and that it has many, many more use cases that what you might think @bitfield
@bitfield Nope. I don't think so. If anything it's the language in trend now.
AI, ML, LLMs, generative art, data analysis and data science are python focused.
The software industry is rapidly converging on just three languages: Go, Rust, and JS.
It would be smart to learn one of those really well, and have at least a working acquaintance with the other two.
Thank you to @bitmovin for the $1m donation to FFmpeg.
This is an unprecedented level of support from a corporation. We thank @bitmovin for their appreciation and support for the open source technologies which underpin their products.

What is the most widely deployed and used database out there?
Postgres? No
MySQL or Oracle? No
MongoDB? Hell, no!
The most widely used database is in your pocket, on your wristband, and in your browser!
Its name is SQLite, and it’s the king when it comes to the number of deployments. It’s shipped with Chrome, Safari, and Firefox browsers, which are used on millions of devices. What's more, this tiny relational database is pre-installed on billions of smartphones, TV sets, car multimedia systems, and edge devices.
For instance, all Apple devices, including the iPhone, Apple Watch, and the futuristic Apple Vision, come with SDKs that allow developers to use SQLite via the Core Data Framework.
Why is SQLite so widespread? It’s tiny - it can be as small as a few hundred kilobytes. It’s transactional. It supports essential SQL APIs, including triggers, indexes, views, window functions, and JSON.
The moral of the story - learn SQL, it's everywhere!
