PASSED! My social work bill with @SenatorSutton has passed both Houses! This bill extends limited permits for LMSWs & LCSWs from 1 years to 2 years + an additional 2 years at @NYSEDNews' discretion. With this legislation, we are easing the pathway to licensure for social workers without lowering standards, allowing them to study for their exams without having to worry about job security. A special shoutout to Joshua Fleischer from @OHELFamily for working with our office on this effort & to @nasw for their advocacy. I look forward to seeing this legislation enacted to help strengthen and support New York’s social work workforce.

I joined @AmyPaulin & more than 75 legislators to send a letter to the Governor urging action to fund access to affordable health coverage in this year’s budget. Our bill, S9589/A10926, would address this looming crisis. Madam Governor, the time is now to protect NYers’ health.

I had the immense pleasure of presenting the 2026 NYS Woman of Distinction Award for District 22 to Linda Ebani for her incredible service to our community and South Brooklyn as a whole through her efforts in civic engagement and with the Kings Highway Beautification Association.

Multiple synagogues and private homes in Queens were vandalized overnight with swastikas and other antisemitic graffiti. @Lynn4NYC, @PhilWongNYC and I are at one of the sites, Congregation Machane Chodosh, in Forest Hills now. When rabbis and congregants arrived to pray this morning, they expected to be met with their usual loving community. When a family woke up, they were prepared to begin an otherwise normal week. Instead, they were met with terrifying signals of hatred and threats of violence. We have visited some of these locations and are in contact with the NYPD, which is investigating and searching for at least four individuals responsible for the terrible incidents. The graffiti will be removed once the investigation is complete. With antisemitism on the rise here and across the globe, we will always stand up for our Jewish community and fight back against hate.

Flatbush Chaveirim was honored to join @NYCWater Commissioner Lisa F. Garcia, @SenatorSutton, @dmjuliakerson, @NYCParks, @NYCSchools, and @NYC_DOT, along with Natan Mandelbaum, Chief of Emergency Management at DEP, for the announcement of a $95 million investment to help reduce flooding in South Brooklyn. We are grateful to be part of efforts that support and protect the community we serve.

Starting this Friday, residents in @BrooklynCB12 with Saturday garbage pickup, can put out their trash bins on Friday starting at 3 pm. This has been made possible through the hard work of @SEichenstein and @SenatorSutton . Special recognition to @bspitzer who also worked on this.

The Mayor's decision to veto @EricDinowitzNYC's Int 175B puts students - all students - into harm's way, full stop. NYers want & deserve safe streets and safe schools, and City Hall is siding against them.

Last Friday, I was honored to join @COPOUSA at their weekly food distribution. As the largest halal food pantry in Brooklyn, COPO provides essential support & services to our neighbors. I'm grateful to have such great partners in our community to build bridges and uplift all NY.
