@Jess4Lowestoft Any news on this Lowestoft state school refusing to admit a child with placement named on an EHCP? You say it's a "lengthy process" but you seem to have missed that @suffolkcc have duty to secure provision and education. x.com/stevenmwright/…

@AsdaServiceTeam I didn’t get one! It was a wasted journey! The online checker said there was stock but none in store and staff said they couldn’t help!

@AsdaServiceTeam I drove 15 miles to your Great Yarmouth Store this evening to buy a game marked as in stock on your stock checker and when I got there I was told that unless I could find it or the SEL number there was nothing staff could do! I left empty handed with no help.

@AsdaServiceTeam They still had stock when I was there and when I got home according to the website. Staff were unable to check stock themselves. This is an issue Asda need to resolve

Why won’t I just stay in my lane, stop talking about our school system and get on with treating mental health problems? Because every day I hear about practices in schools which cause distress - and I’m being asked to resolve the distress as if it, not the practice, is the problem. I’m being asked to be complicit in practices which are damaging to young people’s well-being. I’m being asked to tell young people that the problem is them, that they’re wrong to feel the way they do and with a bit of therapy they can go back to the unchanged system. I’m being asked to tell them that the system is right and they are wrong. What practices, you ask? Putting young people into isolation for haircuts, or nose piercings. Instant detentions for minor uniform transgressions. Young people who have struggled into school being greeted with a behaviour point because they were three minutes late, and then another behaviour point for not taking their coat off immediately. Children who have had a very difficult term ending it off with being excluded from the school trip due to poor attendance. I hear these stories from multiple families, all over the UK. There’s nothing wrong with people who feel distressed and anxious when they are in a system which creates distress and anxiety. Our children aren’t the problem, they are pointing out the problem.

@DavidMc80397417 @Jozinhagirl In one of the cases of ours… the headteacher left following the complaints panel hearing and shortly after they admitted 6 disability discrimination claims. Sadly the other one, an independent specialist school had stronger defence

@Jozinhagirl @SendMumof2 We obtained a copy of an email from Chair of Govs to LA which said “where we’ve done this before (i.e. request a change of placement) the family have always left”. MS sch has no legal right to request a change of placement for child with EHCP!

Just before 12 noon we submitted our final submissions to SENDIST in our claim for #DisabilityDiscrimination against our youngest son's school. I expected to feel relief but instead, as we only just found out the school requested a change in provision in March, I just feel sad 😔

@DavidMc80397417 @Jozinhagirl We’ve had two schools ask if we would like to move our children to another school… no we would like you to meet their needs!

@Jozinhagirl We had this experience and came as a shock (initially). With hindsight, was more about HT trying to offload parents who were doing too good a job of holding him to account.

@suffolkcc - we have a huge increase in EHCPs, we can't keep up, zeitgeist, etc, etc Also SCC - we've gone past 16 weeks of the EHCNA with no EP assessment so we must now issue you a plan anyway 🤦🏼‍♀️

I've concluded it would be cheaper and more efficient for LAs to get parents to write their child's EHCPs and find schools. We bloody end up doing it anyway and they could cut out the expensive incompetent people in-between saving £££ to invest in better send provision!
