@RepMarkPocan Hey Mark, totally serious here, help me understand why shutting down CUSTOMS is a good idea. Why allowing anything to be shipped by anyone into the country is a good thing. You do realize the ‘C’ in ICE and CBP stands for CUSTOMS, right?

The long lines at airports now falls squarely on Speaker Johnson's shoulders. The Senate unanimously passed a bill to fund TSA, FEMA, and the Coast Guard. But Speaker Johnson is refusing to let the House vote on it. If you miss your flight, remember, this shutdown is on him.

Nice to wake up to good news: the democratic opposition wins on no new funding for ICE and Border Patrol. All credit to Senate Dems who held firm and prevailed. All honor to the people of Minneapolis who showed the way in resisting and defeating the forces of authoritarianism.

Well, that WAS the goal! Democrats spent the last half century constructing their new plantations. We call them inner cities. The walls are made of dependance upon government, shoddy education, inconsistent law enforcement, revolving door justice, incessant crime, rare employment opportunities, and nonexistent hope for escape. But Democrats pay the slaves to stay poor. When slaves rebel, move, improve and get jobs, Democrats import illegal aliens to replace them. The slaves themselves are irrelevant. Only the crop matters. The crop is the slaves' votes. Democrats chose to do this. Why? Because Democrats have enabled, used and defended slave labor for centuries. Now they're enabling these slaves to loot the Federal Government and profiting from it. Believe them when they tell you who they are.

Amazingly, government intervention actually made everything worse.

This is what I’ve been fighting for: fund TSA, FEMA, and the Coast Guard while giving Republicans time to meet Americans’ demands for basic reforms to ICE and Border Patrol. I’m glad Republicans came to their senses, but it’s time to rein in the chaos and lawlessness of ICE.

With Senate Dems voting for the DHS funding deal and House Dems prepared to vote for it today until it was killed by House Republicans, there is no longer even the slightest debate about who owns this shutdown. Republicans are blocking funding. They own it 1,000%.

Democrats said not another dime to ICE while the chaos and corruption continues — and we meant that. Don’t fall for the bait. Republicans did not save the day by finally deciding to do their jobs. Trump could’ve signed the Executive Order to fund TSA on day one of this partial shutdown. Senate Republicans had over 11 opportunities to fund TSA — but instead they chose to bow down to Donald Trump for 41 days. Now it’s on House Republicans. Time to put your money where your mouth is.

Just leaving the Capitol now at 3am as I wanted to be on the Senate floor through final passage of the vote to end the shutdown. As we promised, there was no funding for ICE without the reforms Americans demand. TSA at our airports funded; zero for ICE.

FYI, the ‘C’ in ICE and CBP stands for CUSTOMS, ya know the department that’s monitors what gets shipped into this country…. WHY do you think it would be a good thing for Iran to be able to freely ship nuclear material into the US? Because customs is who guards against things like that.

So everyone understands what the democrats fought so hard to get rid of. Immigration CUSTOMS Enforcement CUSTOMS Border Protection Iran can now ship nuclear material into the US unchecked cause that’s what CUSTOMS protects against, WHY do democrats support that?
