Does Andy Burnham's promise to roll back Thatcher's reforms mean he will also roll back her tax cuts? Will the main corporation tax rate go back up to 52%? Will the basic and top rates of income tax go back up to 33% & 83% respectively? Will he reintroduce the investment income surcharge, which could take the top rate of income tax to 98%? Will he bring back the national insurance surcharge, making it even more expensive to employ people? Will he reintroduce the development land, which held back development? These tax cuts helped to liberate the economy and to create widespread prosperity.

An interesting discussion in the Guardian on installing solar panels on car parks. With the Government and NESO pushing for the installation of tens of gigawatts of solar generation capacity to achieve net zero, solar carparks are frequently overlooked in favour of massive solar farms, which devastate rural communities and ride roughshod over residents' wishes. It is estimated that building solar panels on car parks could offer an additional 12-24 GW of capacity, representing between a quarter and a half of the Government's targets for 2030.
