@reddit_lies Not a Boomer, but think it through: Retiree on fixed income, the house is either paid-off or in a reverse mortgage - that means basic housing cost for them is just tax and insurance - call it $400/mo avg? It'd be stupid to sell under those conditions.

If you can't afford the property tax, you should sell to someone who can and then use the proceeds to get something more affordable

Even if they moved out, the young families couldnt afford the taxes or the down payment because they have NEVER saved a dime in their lives. They opt to go to Starbucks 3x a day and go on backpacking tiktok trips across the world and eat out every night and they are the most spoiled people in the world who want everything their parents and grandparents have now after working for 30 plus years and crimping and saving for.
