@AmandaMAtwell @rcb05 You could take prime Nick Saban and put him as the head coach at Duke and he’d never make a 4 team playoff because it’s Duke. That has nothing to do with whether or not he coached at an elite level and everything to do with the resources available at a program like that.

@rcb05 You and I are interpreting the word differently then. I'd say that's a good result. I consider elite to be the top of the top for the year. Playoff wins in the 12-team playoff, or making it back when it was a 4-team. Not being "elite" doesn't mean it wasn't a successful season

@droppindimes81 @NickPKuzma @kbtxsports @Travis_L_Brown A&M is absolutely a winner in the NIL era, but I’d take the opportunity to go back to 2019 CFB in a heartbeat. When a guy who has an advantage based on the current structure of the sport says the old way is better, doesn’t that make a stronger argument than someone who doesn’t?

@NickPKuzma @kbtxsports @Travis_L_Brown That sounds good and all but this coming from a guy that coaches at one of the largest spending NIL institutions. He can really coach but he probably should sit this one out.

Hours before @kbtxsports' @Travis_L_Brown received the details of Mike Elko's contract, the Texas A&M head coach made it clear what he thinks of pros potentially returning to college: "It'd be really cool if we got this back to being an amateur sport"

@TexasHookem22 @CJVogel_OTF It’s one thing when a school says they can’t afford to compete because lack of NIL resource, but when kids don’t want to take your money you’ve got a REAL problem

This is weird. I’m not mad at Parker, but this is weird. Back in the day, if you transferred within conference you had to sit out for 2 years, all but ending your college career. Now you can transfer to a rival in a day. What separated CFB from the NFL is tradition and loyalty. Now, the CFB is just a watered down version of the NFL.

It was interesting how little discussion there was around whether Texas Tech deserved a bye. The Red Raiders had the worst loss among the one-loss teams in that mix, and the worst strength of record and strength of schedule. Now they finally play an elite team, and it's BTA.

@CFBNerds @CoachBeaumont It was crazy to watch people tweeting in the first half about how it was clear bama didn’t deserve their spot flip to tweeting about how OU didn’t deserve their spot

What's wild to me, and why I made that point, is that ND fans talk about how ND would be favored this or that. OK, fine. Maybe say that before round 1. But after what JMU and Tulane did, to STILL be whining about Alabama, considering they went on the road and beat a top 10 team by double digits, shows it's not about getting it right, it's about anti-SEC martyrdom and how anything bad that happens to my team is because of the SEC. If I were an ND fan, I'd be mad at the rules that had me sitting at home while JMU was down 48-13 to Oregon. Not mad at the team who validated their own ticket.

Notre Dame fans deal exclusively in hypotheticals because they cannot accept the reality on the field: they played 3 games worth anything to the committee and lost 2 of them. "But it was 4 months ago." Fine. Then Alabama went 10-1 in the regular season. I'll play that game.
College Football Nerds@CFBNerds

@bdfish24 @MichaelBarba Alabama actually won by 10 is my point Nobody is getting -10 today in Norman But y’all still care more about hypothetical models than actual results

@BarstoolUofM You guys are a better program, but Kenny has his dream job. He also gets the benefit of lower year over year expectation and a much easier conference, so I’m hard pressed to see how it “blows up in his face”

If you don't want "very flawed teams" in the CFP, could I interest you in a four-team CFP?
CMac@ctmcfarland

@AriWasserman Both very flawed teams. Neither should be in.

@Scottwiggins81 @rcb05 Okay but in your analogy you’re sitting on a 20. The analogy only works if you know the next card is an ace, if you aren’t sure (even say 50%) then hitting is dumb

@rcb05 There are never slam dunks. Some hires work out / some don’t. But if you think you can upgrade. You do it. They want a more attacking style on defense.

@NicoleAuerbach Then we should separate the FBS into different categories. This is like saying humans and dogs are the same because they’re both humans. Anyone without a significant bias can see that the SEC and the B10 are plainly different from a league like the SBC.

All of the teams involved in the CFP are in the same subdivision of Division I football. They're all FBS.

Nick Saban to @PatMcAfeeShow: "Would we allow the winner of the AAA baseball league -- the International League, I don't even know the name of it -- would you let them in the World Series? That's the equivalent of what we do when JMU gets in the playoff and Notre Dame doesn't. "I don't want to start any shit here, but ..."

@CanesfanDuke ACC teams do not get to talk about “schedule”. The ACC was so bad that the ACC champ didn’t get an auto bid because they were ranked below JMU

@AyahuascaAaron @HornSports Arguing if BYU should be in the playoffs is a different argument to if they should be ranked ahead or behind ND, Miami and Texas. I don’t think they belong in the playoffs, but they absolutely belong ahead of Texas. Notre Dame and Miami it’s close

@SethRowland2 @HornSports If they beat Tech and lost to a UCF or some random school I’d be ok with them getting in because they proved they can play against very good teams, but we now know for certain the opposite is true They have absolutely no shot at competing at a high level
