20% is far too generous!! @SouthernWater data says that Upto 70% of EDM signals are modified; many are false alarms! They are also using 12/24 spill accounting - this means multiple spills in any 12h period is counted as ONE spill - the EA demands new. MCERT data every 15 mins
Prof Alex Ford@DrAlexFord

Watch this space! What is required @DefraGovUK : 1) EDM that measures flow volume and not just start/stop 2) Accuracy on EDMs - we predict 20% give inaccurate readings 3) More transparency from the water industry and penalties for lack of transparency.

The failure of water industry privatisation laid bare! How much of your water bill is swallowed up by company debt? Great work by @guardian further exposing the sewage scandal & financial racket of the water industry. Here’s @SouthWestWater’s record. Check the crazy dividends. theguardian.com/environment/ng…

The Institute of Marine Sciences @portsmouthuni is located at the entrance of Langstone Harbour covering over 2000 hectares of marine habitats. It’s a SSSI, SAC & Ramsar Site making it internationally important plus an excellent location for marine science education and research

@DrAlexFord 20% of bathing waters on @SouthernWater 's patch have been downgraded. TWO BATHING WATERS on their patch have LOST THEIR BLUE FLAG!. Yet SW say their investments has LIFTED water quality to 88%!! #really?

Rumours afoot that Therese Coffey is on her way out as Environment Secretary. With any luck she'll be replaced with a candidate who will be more dynamic, more proactive and more committed to the job. For example, this potato.

Pre-EDM CSOs at Budds Farm (Langstone Harbour) where it treats at 2400L/second (Y-axis is minutes of discharges; unpublished data). 2013/2014 was an interesting year and could well have sparked the EA investigation

I can't help thinking that the architect of the chaos that is #HS2 @Andrew_Adonis must regret not listening to the many experts who told him that it would always fail back in 2009 when he set up HS2 Ltd.

@HenrikKindstedt Hello, I am so sorry for the lateness in our update. I completely agree that it would have been more helpful to our customers to update before people left for work etc and this has been fed back to the relevant teams. Thank you for your patience, Tara

We’re sorry for yesterday's traffic disruption following a burst water main on #HambleLane, #Southampton. Our teams worked until the early hours to finish the repair, and traffic management has now been stood down. Thanks to everyone for your patience and understanding.

We'd love @SouthernWater to explain not only why they released two hours of sewage in Whitstable overnight but also why they don't think this should be displayed on their map? There's been zero rain, is this an illegal, permit-breaching release? 🤔

They've already ran off with £72bn of our money, left our rivers full of sewage and abstracted local chalk streams to a point of extinction and to top it all off you're about to face the biggest increase in water bills in 20 years. And gov approved it. bbc.co.uk/news/business-…
