Justin Gainey's hiring at NC State will be announced later this afternoon by the school. The school's Board of Advisors has to approve it first, which will happen in a few hours, then it will be public. I'm told Gainey's agreed to a five-year deal.

Breaking: NC State will be hiring Tennessee assistant Justin Gainey as its next men's basketball coach, sources tell @CBSSports. Gainey, 49, was one of the primary targets for the job and notably played for the Wolfpack from '96-00. He's been a high-major assistant since 2018.

Kentucky point guard Jaland Lowe intends to enter the transfer portal, he told @TheFieldOf68. The 6-1 junior posted 8.0 ppg and 2.4 apg in 9 games for Kentucky before he was sidelined with a shoulder injury. At Pitt in 24-25, Lowe averaged 16.8 ppg/5.5 apg.
