@RetroMoviesDB I remember a show with a robot called a Bobo bot, but I can’t for the life of me remember the shows name.

@TonyGrossi The Browns are 1 year removed from a historically good defense. After a year of insane dysfunction, Is the national media too down on this team?

Something for you 3D printing nerds to think about this weekend. When I started in information security 27 years ago, the biggest challenge was user education. Decades later, that challenge still remains — and in some spaces, it’s even more pronounced. Take 3D printing, for example. These machines aren’t just hobbyist tools anymore — they’re connected devices with moving parts and high-temperature heating elements, capable of real physical damage. Yet most are left completely unsecured, sitting on internal networks without proper authentication or isolation. Any time I bring up the importance of securing every device on a local network — especially ones with physical capabilities — the responses are often the same as they were 20 years ago: dismissive and uninformed. It’s frustrating, especially when you understand how internal threats pose the greatest risk to any networked environment. There’s a reason critical infrastructure is compartmentalized — it’s not just about keeping outsiders out, it’s about limiting internal blast radius. Submarines have always been a great analogy — any single leak shouldn’t sink the whole ship. Secure every device properly. Last year, one evening, I wrote a simple tool that scans local networks for Klipper-based 3D printers, cancels active prints, and homes the machines. I never released it — it was more of a fun exercise (I miss coding) and a way to illustrate the real-world implications of these vulnerabilities. With over two decades in information security — including many years where my specialization was working directly with banks and governments as a professional hacker — I’ve demonstrated how overlooked risks can lead to serious consequences. Some of my work even landed on the front page of news sites around the world. 😅 Coding and hacking were my entire life before I retired into the ranch and 3D printing, so I have a DEEP passion for it - I have such an addictive personality, that I know that if I put my infosec / coding hat back on, I fear I'll fall right back into those 48 hour coding sessions. I would so much prefer, and I’m still hopeful that awareness and education will help the 3D printing space mature when it comes to security. But if history is any guide… I’m not holding my breath... or, maybe we ultimately have to start a detailed conversation on information security best practices and demonstrate what’s possible when security is ignored? I've already written up a detailed assessment with recommendations (yup, after all these years, still hate writing them), and I did send an earlier version of it to a couple of companies in our space some time ago - we'll know over the next couple of months if this has had any impact. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
