@FortPointer Thanks for continuing to expose Ed and his unsubstantiated claims. Ed listens to the loudest people in the room that he calls his constituents that are only worried about new residents competing for free public parking spaces.

Constant misrepresentations may pass muster today, but over time residents will realize they’ve been duped. Not a single housing expert agrees with what Clr. Flynn is stating re. parking minimums. NOT ONE. The requirements absolutely contribute to Boston’s housing crisis.

Plans for the widening of this sidewalk, among those the founders of FPNA focused on (most memorably, advocacy a decade+ ago by Joe Rogers), entered construction in Feb 2026. Councilor Flynn has entered the chat. He’s calling for the Congress St Redesign project to be halted.

If Broadway had widened sidewalks instead of triple parking, Southie residents could enjoy a street cafe with friends. A center-running #11 bus lane would zip residents downtown and back at peak hours. Thank Sen Collins and Councilor Flynn for dismissing transportation experts.
The Fort Pointer@FortPointer

Councilor Flynn knows more about designing streets for retailers/restaurateurs than the Commonwealth's top chefs, including Barbara Lynch (Sportello) and Andy Husbands (Smokeshop). Flynn dedicated an entire para to his assessment: Local shops don't need widened sidewalks.

New Hampshire Governor @KellyAyotte has signed SB 284 into law which limits municipalities from mandating more than one parking space per new housing unit statewide. The bill was originally introduced by Senator Keith Murphy (R) of Manchester and received bipartisan support.

@BostonBTD Now do Boston! My parking pass just renews with no fee. That's crazy. We are giving away public space for free. Either charge for the utility or put it to better use for things like outdoor dining and more public benefits than private car storage.
Andy Boenau@Boenau

97% of NYC on-street parking is FREE. Charging a measly $5/day per space would raise $5 billion annually. Or $10/day to raise $10 billion. That money could go towards traffic calming, bike lanes, transit improvements... all sorts of good stuff.

Allowing up to 4 homes per lot on just 6% of Massachusetts’ 1.6 million single-family parcels could create 222,000 new homes, enough to meet 2035 goals and a crucial step toward realizing needed flexibility in our constrained regional housing market. remainplaces.com/post/unlocking…

Only @MassDOT would build a sidewalk barely 3’ wide and tout it as some great improvement. Only 1/4 mile from Broadway Subway Station @BostonBTD

it’s kind of crazy that cars kill 200x as many pedestrians as e-bikes but people just accept that as a given. why don’t cars have a 15mph speed limit?

Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani@NYCMayor

After numerous conversations this past week, today, we sent @CitiBikeNYC a letter informing them that they needed to take steps to adopt a 15 MPH speed limit for their e-bikes as we announced yesterday. I’m pleased to hear that they are already working to meet this mandate.

@CityOfBoston @BostonBTD @DoITBoston How does the city evaluate other factors in a complex system that involves human behavior such as the potential for induced demand (which would negate any emission reduction), and safety issues with speed and red light running at signaled intersections?

With Project Green Light, @BostonBTD and @DoITBoston are partnering with Google to improve Boston’s traffic. This project has reduced traffic congestion at more than 100 traffic intersections — along with reduced emissions, updated traffic patterns, and faster commutes.

Boston suffers from car dependency. Kraft has no interest in alleviating the need for cars. Instead, he wishes to reinforce it! We cannot allow car traffic to continue plaguing our streets. Ride the Wu Train!
According to Scott@According2Scott

Tonight, @JoshKraftBoston said “people need their cars” answering a Q about car dependency. @wutrain pushed the importance of transit. In ‘20, when the T proposed cutting the MH Streetcar, relied upon by vets, students, & those in affordable housing, Michelle Wu helped save it!

If this row of townhomes from the 1800s still existed today it would be a beloved part of the City with extensive historic designations placed on it to protect it. However, based on heavily restrictive modern zoning, nothing like it could ever be built here today. 📍Newton, MA

@RonDurk Thanks Sharon, It is very easy to live in this area without depending on a car for daily transport. Speaking from experience it is a great way to live. We need more housing for people.

Boston's ZBA, in a 5-2 vote, rejected plans for 70-units of new housing, just 0.3mi to the MBTA's Andrew Square station, to replace a 2-story industrial building. US Congressman Stephen Lynch (D) sent an aide to read a letter opposing the development for lack of parking...

DCR proving again and again that it is not a responsible party when it comes to roadway safety. This 6 lane Highway on the river in Boston is a regressive. Comment my May 8 @ mass.gov/forms/dcr-publ…
