@PlayFor90 How many folks has Lee hired in the front office? I hear the complaints that the cupboard was bare but those roles should be easier to fill than the roster spots. Did he bring anyone with him from NY or leverage his time in the league to build out the front office?

I'm seeing folks upset at David Lee about the #SportingKC salary release (mostly around the lack of highly paid talent). Lee knows he didn't get enough signings done. Sure he needs to do better. But I feel like he was left with no infrastructure so I'm not surprised.

@SportingKC Players, coaches, administration and ownership all should be embarrassed by this garbage performance and this waste of a year.

Oh Lee 100% deserves a large chunk of blame for the situation #SportingKC is in too for the late throwing together of the roster. As does ownership for taking so long to get Lee in to begin with. But a change is needed and of the 3 (ownership, Lee, Wicky), Wicky is the easiest.

@downthebyline @Ia_boxx It’s super easy to not have any bad contracts when you don’t actually try to sign anyone. You can’t tell me that there weren’t several free agents that would have raised the floor enough to be serviceable. It was an excuse then and it’s an excuse now.

@Ia_boxx @Shep4Liberty Not sure there are that many "bad" contracts right now. Only 6 players are signed beyond next year's sprint season, and 2 of those players (ZLR & Blorian) haven't played for the 1st team yet.

The single largest form of theft in America is wage theft. $50 billion a year are stolen from American workers. If a billionaire amasses their wealth by underpaying their full-time workers so severely that they must rely on food assistance and government programs to survive, then no, that wealth was not earned by one individual - it was a wealth transfer subsidized by underpaid American workers and the public who get stuck with the bill for large corporations free-riding off our systems. The point is less about individual morality. It’s more about how our current economic reality of shattering inequality rewards screwing over workers and exploiting essential systems at scale. We’re talking monopoly power. Rent-seeking. Wage theft. Profiteering. Stock buybacks. Destabilizing housing markets. Companies using SNAP/EBT to underwrite their wages. Massive government subsidies or contracts to corporations following lobbying and dark money in politics with little to no oversight or accountability. Some people get enraged that I draw attention to this. That’s on them. Let them call me shrill, dumb, inexperienced, girly, uneducated - these folks will say anything to distract from or undercut the truth that working people are getting screwed, and giving people a fair shake means we must have a grown conversation about reigning in abuse of power.

Alright I’m moving on. Anyway, the internet is weird.

Sometimes I really wonder what is going on here, and how much of what we see is a purposeful manipulation vs. a form of sad hysteria. Take one example. Here’s an account I’ve been seeing more recently but seems like a fake person spreading false propaganda who goes by “Ally J Kiss.” The account has a few thousand followers, but often has video posts about it out-of-context clips that accrue hundreds of thousands of views. Tonight the “Ally Kiss” account shared a 47 second clip which already has 100k+ views. It has 5 obvious edits in it - like not even attempting to pretend otherwise. The copy is not a direct quote, but presents itself as verbatim text. And of course the whole thing is a complete lie - the actual clip is saying essentially the exact opposite of the framing in the post: youtu.be/6FN6CCYoJcs?si… Then this post is reposted by a variety of prominent accounts - all of whom do not even follow this account “Ally Kiss.” How did it even show up in their timeline? Did the algorithm feed them it? Some other way? They share it unquestioningly and add their own commentary. It fits their narrative so they spread the lie. Do they intentionally know this is false? Or is it just too good to check? Some add further lies to it. They mistake the order of the events taking place even in this poorly-constructed edited video. I like X, but for the perpetually online, this is life now. They saw propaganda, they bought it, they spread it, they believe it (or… maybe they don’t), and they move on (their followers don’t know otherwise). It’s their right of course, but it’s alarming and a little depressing.

@courtneyknill Jar sauce is banned in my house. I make a variety of sauces. They are not difficult once you learn. Plus you can make in bulk and freeze. Making the perfect meatball…now that is the challenge. On that the more I learn the less I know.

I sometimes do the simply ragu since it’s one of the cheapest seed oil free, but often I buy canned san marzanos in bulk and just blend them to make my own
