@Fintech03 Isn’t 316LN a widely used grade? Maybe some specific modifications to the composition were made. ITER tokamak also uses a variant of 316LN.

1 of the major reason other countries failed at FBRs is Liquid Sodium. FBRs do not use water as a coolant; they use liquid metal (Sodium). Sodium is a diva, it catches fire if it touches air & explodes if it touches water. Indian engineers at IGCAR (Kalpakkam) had to invent entirely new grades of stainless steel (316LN) & specialized robotic welding techniques just to keep the sodium contained. Not a Jugaad but Materials Science at a level that most Western labs cannot replicate today.
