A farmer dies in April 2026.
His son inherits the farm. The farm has been in the family since 1847.
The farm consists of: 300 acres of grazing pasture, a farmhouse built in 1892, a barn, a milking parlour, two tractors of varying ages, a Land Rover that runs about 70% of the time, and a herd of 180 Hereford-cross cattle.
On paper, the farm is worth approximately £3.2 million. This is because land near him has been bought recently by a London hedge fund looking for carbon credits, which has dragged the comparable value of every field within forty miles upward to a number nobody local can justify.
In cash, the farm produces a profit of about £28,000 a year in a good year. In a bad year it loses money. The son also works as a fencing contractor three days a week to keep the operation viable.
The inheritance tax bill on a £3.2 million estate, even at the reduced 20% rate, comes to approximately £140,000 after the increased threshold is applied. The son does not have £140,000. The son has never had £140,000. The son has £4,200 in his current account and an overdraft.
The son sells 60 acres to a developer to pay the tax. The developer puts solar panels on the 60 acres. The remaining herd cannot be sustained on the reduced land. The herd is sold. The barn becomes a holiday let.
A different family eats Brazilian beef this Christmas without knowing why the price went up.
The Treasury collects £140,000.
The land never produces British food again.

Superb from @michaelgove.
The silence in the room is telling.
When eloquently delivered facts hit an audience, with many perhaps quietly grasping for the first time that the pro-EU lobby in Britain have been peddling nonsense for a decade.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has just been nominated to the UN Committee for Programme and Coordination to shape policy on women's rights, human rights, disarmament and terrorism prevention.
The British government, of course, did not object to Iran’s appointment — even though the Iranian regime has been massacring thousands and thousands of protestors this year.
At least it shows satire is not dead.
NEXT UP> Satan nominated to investigate sin.

Tonight, people around Dehdasht provided an important help to the American pilot. By showing up in large numbers on the roads, they effectively blocked the ONLY POSSIBLE ground route for the Islamic regime’s forces to reach to the area the pilot had ejected on.
I am so proud of these noble people❤️. With empty hands and their lives in their hands isolated with NO INTERNET FOR 36 days now, they are doing everything they can to support this military strike as it is the ONLY opening they can have to GET RID of this terrorist regime, which they can never get rid of unarmed AS THEY ARE.

Heartbreaking 💔
This morning, right after President Trump’s speech, the Iranian regime moved fast and hanged 18-year-old protester.
Yes, Mr. President @realDonaldTrump, there are no “less radical” leaders in Iran.
From the courtroom to the prison cell, from the interrogator to the judge, this is a unified system of terror. So this is the Islamic Republic: a system with a Stone Age approach to dissent, executing its own young people to stay in power.
This is not about left or right.
This is about life, dignity, and the future of a nation.
His name is Amirhossein Hatami. 18 years old. His “crime”? Demanding Freedom, dignity, and a normal life.
No lawyer. No independent media to be his voice, No fair trial. No final goodbye to his family. But of course a forced confession on State TV after being tortured to admit a crime that he has committed never committed.
And his friends may be next.
By the way, where are the anti-war activists?
Why don’t we hear you campaigning against mass arrests, and executions in Iran ? Would you demand that the Iranian regime stop its war on unarmed people?
Stop the executions.
Stop the torture.
End the total #DigitalBlackOut imposed on Iran.
This is about standing with the people of Iran against a regime that has massacred more than 40,000 of its own citizens and is now killing those arrested in the same uprising

We are absolutely heartbroken that this is how low Britain has sunk. This horrific act truly plumbs new depths.
Hatzola is a volunteer-run ambulance service run by the Jewish community but catering to everyone, Jews and non-Jews alike, working with the NHS to save lives as fast as possible. They provide outstanding medical care at lightning speed every hour of every day, and fundraise to buy ambulances and equipment. They are truly a shining example of the Jewish community coming together to help everyone in the most fundamental of ways by giving the gift of life.
Burning their ambulances in an attempt to put them out of action is a truly repulsive act of antisemitic hatred in a Britain where Jews now have to keep everything from schools to synagogues under constant guard. Our society has become infested with the sickness of antisemitism.
In this case it is not only about catching the perpetrators and restoring the ambulances, but about politicians accepting that by tolerating everything from hate marches to hate preachers, they have created this sickening mess, and time has run out for them to act. The law must change, fast, but so must society.
The people spewing obsessive conspiracy theories about Jews, Zionists and Israelis are not social justice warriors, they are hateful bigots who are feeding this madness and must be stood up to and told as much by ordinary decent people.

"There hasn't been any significant per capita growth in Britain in 20 years. Why? Because... there's been a fundamental failure in Britain to implement the sorts of reforms that are allowing America to boom." @DouglasCarswell

If you invented a machine that could:
- Restore degraded land
- Build topsoil
- Sequester carbon
- Produce fertiliser
- Create complete protein
- Generate its own fuel
- Reproduce itself
- Require zero electricity
You'd win the Nobel peace prize.
Instead, we blame them for climate change.

This is a remarkable table. It shows that to all intents and purposes the UK currently doesn’t have a navy it can deploy. It is a national scandal. But, of course, nobody — political or military — will be held accountable, much less sacked.

Growing calls are mounting for Australia to protect the Iranian women's national soccer team after they refused to sing the Islamic Republic of Iran’s anthem before an Asian Cup match last week. Iranian state television branded the players "wartime traitors" for their silent protest, while crowds gathered outside the stadium chanting "Let them go" and "Save our girls."
As the bus carrying the team left the stadium, the situation took a dramatic turn when players inside began signaling “HELP" in sign language. Amnesty International warned the players face persecution or worse if sent home, noting "some of these team members probably have had their families already threatened." Despite the growing international pressure, Australia has so far declined to comment on whether it will offer the players asylum.
These brave women stood in silent defiance against a brutal regime, and now the world must stand with them.

I'm buying a church.
I’ve made a cash offer of £225,000 to purchase this church, which was about to close and be sold off to developers.
I'm fed up with driving past all these churches in the UK that used to thrive, support the community, and feed the homeless.
Now, just look at these beautiful church buildings.
So many are boarded up, closed down, with developers queueing up to profit from converting them into flats.
I simply can't accept that a building built to glorify Jesus for generations can be turned into something solely for profit.
So I've placed an offer on a church in my hometown.
My plan is to buy it and offer it completely free of charge, with zero rent, to a church willing to worship Jesus here and serve others.
What do you think of this idea?

It was the first time I’d met these parents and when I asked Ellen Roome how many children she had, she looked at me sadly and said
“None. Jools was my only one”.
I could barely speak and just mouthed “I’m sorry”.
Hardest press conference I’ve ever had to do.

It won't receive much coverage because it's not about Prince Andrew or Lord Mandelson but bereaved parents just did a presser with K Badenoch seeking a social-media ban for children. Moving stuff. The grieving father of a boy called Ollie: 'He was 80% of our family.'

Major international developments are emerging after Labour’s Chagos defeat:
• Mauritius has been implicated in illicit financial dealings linked to Venezuela's Maduro
• Whistleblower documents indicate China’s strategic interest beyond the 99-year lease period
• The Chagos Treaty undermines the Pelindaba Treaty, making AUKUS operations at Diego Garcia unlawful
The US must urgently reassess this avoidable strategic failure

After the regime cut off the internet in Iran, a massacre followed and human rights organizations chose silence. Silence is complicity.
