The Pahlavi dynasty took a country that was suffering from illnesses and poverty and the world war from Qajars and made it into the gem of Middle East
Some people didn't really deserve them
Decado@ItsDecado
The Pahlavi dynasty rebuilt iran out of dust once & that's why Iranians chant javid shah today. Iran 1926. Iran 1976.

@PiratePareto GCC or iran will not be great, at least in the medium term. Vision 2030 is a complete dead end and world is moving on from oil. At least iran's revenue relies much less on oil and foreign slave work

@SamiraVVV I was sad sardar wasn't selected but it's what it is. Can't be posting pictures with UAE while they're bombing our oil facilities

@NYG_FanOnWheels @BrettErickson28 I think the plan A, B and C were regime change. Because there's no way to ensure iran is not making a nuke. They have thousands of mountains and most of them could be used for deeply buried underground facilities. What is the solution without a deal?
English

@Simorghja @BrettErickson28 Than there should be no deal made, we are far past deals at this point.

I don’t know how to tell you all this, but the rumors and details surrounding a potential peace deal between Iran and the U.S. will likely be not that far off from reality.
Sorry, what’s that? You think the terms are overly favorable to Iran and is a clear capitulation from Trump?
Yeah, that’s what happens when you get outplayed. You have to agree to less than savory concessions. Welcome to reality.

Stunning!
Very understandable that many view the Iran war as "Israel first" when you see these statistics:
The US depleted far more of its advanced missile-defense interceptors inventory to defend Israel than Israel itself did.
The US fired more than 200 THAAD interceptors (50% of its stockpile) to defend Israel, but Israel fired fewer than 100 of its Arrow and around 90 David Sling interceptors.
The US did more to defend Israel than Israel did to defend itself in a war that, according to Rubio ,the US is in because of Israel...

@MDUmairKh I think it has to do more with war and economy than the system. Saudi Iran and Qatar have some form of sharia but it's more livable

@BrettErickson28 Operation freedom+ could work if they can stomach causalities and few warship losses
English

@Simorghja No. I think he’s royally screwed tbh. I don’t see any viable pathway to victory at this point.

What incentive does Iran have to bow to the pressures of the blockade?
When understanding the rationale that drove the imposition of the blockade, a few aspects need to be understood.
The blockade, first and foremost, was intended to produce one of two key strategic objectives that the United States was unable to accomplish through military strikes:
1) Toppling of the regime
2) Significant concessions at the negotiating table
And how would the blockade be able to bring about these outcomes?
1) Rapid hyperinflation of the Rial
2) Major oil infrastructure damage due to oil well shut-ins
3) Total economic collapse due to lack of oil revenues, internet revenues, exports, etc.
Let’s address number 2 right off the bat:
Iran is not going to experience “irreversible damage to their oil infrastructure”, and they most certainly not have it “explode” as Trump so eloquently put it. They have plenty of remaining storage, and this entire premise was farcical at best.
For number 1, we just haven’t seen significant and rapid hyperinflation as a result of the blockade. Iran certainly has notable inflation, but given that a reprieve is around the corner, believing that a short term hyperinflationary environment (which hasn’t even begun) would achieve the two key strategic objectives is deluded.
Now for number 3. And this is the key one for many. Massive economic damage.
Let us reiterate the two necessary strategic objectives, which are:
- Toppling the regime
- Major concessions at the negotiating table
Given that the Iranian regime retains control over the Strait of Hormuz, they have significant leverage in any peace deal, and this has already been more or less accepted by both sides. Sanctions relief almost certainly will occur. Unfreezing of assets is highly likely. And Iran, one way or another, is about to get PAID at the end of this conflict.
That’s critical to understand. The “monetary value” Iran holds by controlling the Strait of Hormuz is incredibly significant.
So short-term economic damage from the blockade? Sure, it hurts the regime over the course of a few months (at most), but this is a country that has faced severe economic hurdles for decades. A few more months that are slightly worse when they know they’ll come out of this stronger due to the monetary value of the Strait?
They have no incentive to capitulate.
What we’re seeing with Iran is the equivalent of having your finger chopped off, but knowing the hospital is right around the corner, and that you have a major lawsuit windfall around the corner.
Do you want to lose a finger? Of course not. Would many of us be glad to lose a finger for $10 million? I’d take that deal.
Iran knows they are about to get paid. About to cash in. About to get that sweet, sweet McDonald’s lawsuit money.
They will not cave.

@BrettErickson28 "Blockade failed" "kinetic action failed" "X failed" looks antiwar on surface but you intentionally leave out the solution. Is that to push trump to take more extreme action?
