Ed Davey must have a very short memory. He voted in favour of allowing women to carry out their own abortions, at any gestational age up to birth and during birth, in any manner, for any reason. Not sure how this makes Britain “the safest place in the world to have a baby”.
Ed Davey@EdwardJDavey

Britain should be the safest place in the world to have a baby, but right now maternity care is nowhere near where it needs to be. It's why we're launching a £600 million plan to fix it, so every family can get the care they deserve. And thank you to Tots Play for having us!

@zatzi Yes, it demonstrates the inhumaneness of a shallow comprehension of the young lady's situation. 💔

This is surreal. The father of a 25 year girl who was gang raped, attempted suicide but failed and then opted for assisted suicide, tried to prevent her death and this MP asks “how can we stop this happening here?” If one of my own children were in such a situation I would move heaven and earth to try to save them. Any parent would. This is inhuman. 👇
Adam James Pollock@AdamPollock

When you couldn’t think the assisted suicide supporters could stoop any lower… Here’s Tom Gordon MP criticising the father of Noelia Castillo, the girl who died by euthanasia after being gang-raped, for trying to save his daughter’s life. Absolutely appalling.

Update: the article by @dignityindying’s Prue Leith was so comprehensively inaccurate it has now been taken down. Maybe this debate needs a bit less from lobby groups and TV celebrities, and a bit more from…people who actually know about life-limiting illness and public safety?

Bizarre article from @dignityindying’s Prue Leith, who thinks Sarah Mullally has “led” a “filibuster” (she has spoken twice), that Mullally proposed “200…amendments” (actual figure: zero), and that the bulk of amendments have been tabled by “just seven peers” (actual figure 50+)

@nmdacosta @JeffGazzard UK Drs like me would have quit the UK if obliged to euthanise our patients. Deliberately killing a patient is contrary to my ethical principles and medical training and I would have been forced to quit the profession or more likely the country as many countries still value life.

@PheonixRising50 @AmandaAchtman @ARPACanada Or have the children found out about 'assisted dying' and independently want to write to MPs about wanting care not 'assisted dying'. In which case they are not being abused but acting on their own behalf. Also depends on the age of the 'child'. Age 17 for example?

Medic (Claud Regnard)

If future parliaments remain determined to legalise assisted deaths, it must be outside healthcare (like Swiss for 80yrs). Current Medically Assisted Dying bills have major, inherent faults & problems. Keep Assisted Dying Out of Healthcare. KADOH.uk
Right To Life UK@RightToLifeUK

Baroness Finlay refers to Canada, Australia and the Netherlands, where many doctors struggle to "opt out" of involvement in assisted suicide. A clear "opt-in" system is required, as "opt-out" could still mean doctors are expected to facilitate assisted suicide discussions.

@OicWhour @ProfMarkTaubert Except Labour politicians for the 'assisted dying' bill fully expect doctors to take the terrible jip if the bill passed. That happens when government passes such a bill not only in the UK but elsewhere. Even though politicians are responsible for bill and should take the jip.
