@stackerco “The fundamental principles of our religion are the testimony of the Apostles and Prophets, concerning Jesus Christ, that He died, was buried, and rose again the third day, and ascended into heaven; and all other things which pertain to our religion are only appendages to it.”
English

@Sip_Dhit @raiderdamuni That’s not what it means at all actually.
English

What the heck does this mean 🤣
Robby McCombs@rtmccombs
Collin Chandler posts that he will be “returning home”

@Dred_DelGath @Bobby_Clayson If the Bible doesn’t even describe most temple rituals practiced in Jesus’ day, how exactly are you concluding what the apostles did or didn’t do there?
English

@Sip_Dhit @Bobby_Clayson It's not a restoration of anything that Paul, Peter, James or Jesus ever did. So I guess you can do all that LDS temple stuff. But it's not a restoration. It's addition.
English

@Bobby_Clayson A week and a half ago
We’re told multiple times about how what we’re taught in the temple points to Christ, but I was impressed by how much I noticed symbolized/typified Christ while I was there. It was really sacred and humbling, and I look forward to more moments like that!
English

@Dred_DelGath @Bobby_Clayson The temple in Christ’s day was controlled by Sadducees, who didn’t believe in the resurrection or many other things Christians then and Latter-day Saints now believe
Of course temple worship would’ve looked different from what it should’ve in those circumstances
English

@Sip_Dhit @Bobby_Clayson So you think Peter went into the temple and baptised people in the Laver? Or Christians got married before the shewbread? The Bible tells us exactly what happened in the temple. To the point of what part of the fat to burn. Intricate details. And none of it is Mormon-ish
English

@Dred_DelGath @Bobby_Clayson How would you know what 1st century Christians would or wouldn’t recognize? Are you one?
And you’re just gonna flat out disregard the scriptures I referenced in my last post that show the biblical precedent for many aspects of Latter-day Saint temple worship?
English

@Sip_Dhit @Bobby_Clayson The idea that the LDS temples is a restoration of anything Christian is completely wrong. No first century Christians would recognize what the LDS do in their temples. It's all masonic stuff made up by Joseph Smith.
English

@Dred_DelGath @Bobby_Clayson You’re calling LDS temple worship “made up,’” but the Bible’s temple had sacred garments (Exodus 28), ritual washings (Exodus 30), and covenant signs (Genesis 17)
The only thing you’ve really shown is that you’re super uninformed about this stuff and you’ve got a lot to learn
English

@Bobby_Clayson Mormon temple stuff is completely made up
You really believe that the 12 apostles wore special undergarments with symbols on them? You think that the Jews did handshakes in the Temple? You think baptisms took place in the Jerusalem temple? You think marriages were in the temple?

My quick thoughts on whether or not Kevin Dresser is stepping down or not as head coach at Iowa State:
We've known Dresser would retire soon. He just finished his ninth season as head coach at Iowa State. It really was just a matter of when.
Metcalf becoming the head coach whenever Dresser DID retire has always made the most sense to me for just about every reason we can list. I basically envisioned Dresser doing exactly what John Smith has done since he retired at Oklahoma State.
The only thing that is really surprising about this report is that we're discussing this today and not April 2027.

@Dred_DelGath @justinjcrowder @EriePaWil Paradise ≠ salvation
In John 20:17, Jesus says he hasn’t ascended to His Father. So the thief wasn’t with God. Therefore, he wasn’t automatically saved even though he was automatically in paradise
English

@Sip_Dhit @justinjcrowder @EriePaWil The actions are not essential. The thief on the cross next to Jesus had no ability to even do actions, but Jesus told him he would be in paradise. That thief DID have faith. Saying, Remember me when you come into your Kingdom. Which means he understood that Jesus was the Messiah.
English

They say “Latter-Day Saints don’t believe they are saved by grace”
Many accuse us of believing that we are only saved by works.
It’s clear that they haven’t read the Book of Mormon, but are repeating old lies.
2 Nephi 10:24
“Wherefore, my beloved brethren, reconcile yourselves to the will of God, and not to the will of the devil and the flesh; and remember, after ye are reconciled unto God, that it is only in and through the grace of God that ye are saved.”
Without the Atoning sacrifice, and the grace and gift of Christ, none of us would be saved!
I invite you to read the Book of Mormon. With pure intent!

English

@justinjcrowder @Dred_DelGath @EriePaWil I think he actually believes the same thing we do, he just has a misconception about 2 Nephi 25:23 and its implications on what we believe that he got from somewhere (definitely not from his own study) that he doesn’t want to give up cause he can attack the church with it
English

@Dred_DelGath @justinjcrowder @EriePaWil So if faith without action isn’t really faith or isn’t sufficient faith, does that not mean the actions are essential?
Christ saves and not the actions, but does all that not mean the actions are essential?
English

@Sip_Dhit @justinjcrowder @EriePaWil Biblical Christianity lines right up with Matt 7:21
Those actions are proof that you really believed. They are the byproduct. And if you dont have those actions, it is proof that you dont believe. You didnt really think the house was on fire so you just stayed put.
English

@Dred_DelGath @justinjcrowder @EriePaWil Matthew 7:21
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
English

@justinjcrowder @EriePaWil Yes, belief (faith) alone is enough. Actions (works) are the byproduct of belief. If someone says the house is on fire, but you see no smoke or flames, yet you act and run. That action was the byproduct of believing in the message that the house was on fire.

@notawrestler_x Was dresser planning on stepping down before any of this happened?
English

Based on the timeline, my guess is Metcalf was offered the Iowa assistant job (with a nice pay raise) and Iowa State countered with the head coaching job

@EZ_Wrestling Who’s your favorite Hawkeye?😂
Imo he’s been more instrumental in the program’s success than Dresser was even though Dresser was really good. Good hire on their part
English

Wow.
My 2nd favorite Hawkeye is now Head Coach of the Cyclones. 😳
Justin Basch@JustinJBasch
Sounding like a big Head Coaching change coming in Ames, as @MrPatMineo announced that Brent Metcalf is expected to be elevated to the new Head Coach of @CycloneWR. Current Head Coach Kevin Dresser will step down as Head Coach and move into a different role, as things look to be finalized over the next week or so. Excited to hear more about that. The former Hawkeye, Metcalf, has been with the Cyclones since serving as a volunteer assistant in the 2017-18 season.

@Dred_DelGath @the_jake_bastow There is evidence for the Book of Mormon

There’s a lot more to DNA than what it sounds like you think there is

What are your sources showing Joseph talked about ancient American civilizations before the Book of Mormon came around?

@the_jake_bastow The BoM is fiction.
- No archaeological evidence
- "Translated by a guy looking into a hat" lol
- Zero DNA evidence
- Plates went back to Heaven lol. I wonder why?
- JS talked of American civilizations before he wrote the BoM. (Pretty sus lol)

The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ stands as a profound second witness of the divinity of Jesus Christ - not as a replacement for the Bible, but as a companion that deepens and expands our understanding of Him as the Savior and Redeemer of the world.
From its opening pages to its final chapter, the Book of Mormon testifies with clarity and power that Jesus is the Son of God, the Creator of heaven and earth, and the only name whereby salvation can come. It teaches of His condescension, His infinite Atonement, His Resurrection, and His personal ministry among the people in the ancient Americas.
What makes its witness especially compelling is its consistency. Across centuries of writers - prophets separated by time and circumstance - the central message never shifts: Christ is the Redeemer, and all must come unto Him.
The Bible itself affirms that not all of Christ’s works and teachings are contained within its pages:
“And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written.” (John 21:25)
The Book of Mormon stands as evidence that God continues to speak, continues to teach, and continues to testify of His Son to other peoples. It gives us a glimpse into some of those “many other things” and reinforces, with unmistakable clarity, that Jesus is the Christ.
To those who have never accepted Moroni’s invitation in the book’s final chapter (Moroni 10:3-5) - to read, ponder, and ask God with a sincere heart if these things are true - I invite you to do so.
And to those who feel hesitant: move forward anyway. God honors honest seeking. There is a witness waiting for you from the Holy Ghost- one that brings not just intellectual clarity, but spiritual certainty that Jesus is the Christ and that this book is truly another testament of Him. #SaintsOnX #FloodXwithTruth

@Dred_DelGath @EriePaWil President Benson literally says Christ’s atonement saves us😂 Expecting disciples to keep His commandments isn’t self-salvation, it’s basic Christianity
If saying we must keep Christ’s commandments means we “save ourselves” that same criticism applies to Jesus in Matt 19:17
English

@Sip_Dhit @EriePaWil Nope. Take it up with your prophet.
President Harold B. Lee:
“The Savior’s blood, His atonement, will save us, but only after we have done all we can to save ourselves by keeping His commandments.”
