These responses are heartbreaking. I don’t know how to convey to folks who use our state as a punchline that we’re literally fighting for our lives here. Asking us to move is a privileged take, and most of us with the means to move should stay and fight for those who can’t.

The State of TX levies 30 different taxes. Of those, 2 (sales tax and prop tax) make up over 80% of tax revenue. Special interests work to make sure their taxes are kept low. The lege needs to evaluate all taxes on the books and make sure everyone is paying their fair share.
