One of my favorite Elon story is when he had an all-hands meeting at 1am on a Sunday at the SpaceX factory in Boca Chica. He asked his team one question: why isn't this factory running 24/7? His engineers said they needed more people to run shifts. 48 hours later, SpaceX had hired 252 workers and doubled the factory workforce. Most companies and CEOs would have scheduled a planning meeting to discuss the staffing gap and take weeks to hire those people. But Elon just did that within 2 days.

@naelbis @juliusmarchi Nice, so it's the fact that most customers are one time customers, that's useful, thanks.

@Skillzie2 @juliusmarchi Because service businesses aren't "sexy", deal with a lot of one time only customers, the barrier to entry is low and the businesses tend to not sell well. So these kids run into the wall, realize their dream of "make a couple million and sell" isn't gunna happen and they quit.

A lot of people ask me why I didn't stick with my pressure washing business and scale it... Truthfully, it's a horrible business to scale. But don't get me wrong... You can still make solid money & learn so much if your a young buck who's hungry and wants to get into entrepreneurship

@mikepbaca @juliusmarchi Sure, but I was just giving my number as context. What I was asking is "why" can't you scale a pressure washing biz? What's the specific reason a pressure washing biz doesn't scale but e.g. a pest control one does.

@Skillzie2 @juliusmarchi $160K is a respectable business and I give you props for getting it there, but that's not what he is referring to as a scaled business. A scaled business would look to grow to $1M+ in revenue/year.

We don’t know why Dianna Russini deleted her X account but we know when she did. The “when” can give us clues to the “why” Dianna Russini didn’t delete her X when misogynists were calling her unholy names She didn’t delete X after people scrutinized her past interviews with Vrabel She didn’t delete X when Mike Vrabel essentially contradicted her story. She didn’t delete it when the scandal broke She didn’t delete it when new photos from the NYC bar were released She deleted her X account about 4 hours after people started connecting dots on her X profile and hypothesizing Mike Vrabel was the father of her Child she named Michael.

We built this self storage facility in 2015. Opened the doors in 2017. All-in cost: $2.4 million. Acquired the property across the street for $500k a year later. It did over $100,000 of rev recently. It’s worth $8 million + today and we still own it with no investors.

@Product_Mgr_ @Ed_Miliband To be fair the plan isn't to combust hydrogen in an engine - it would be to use fuel cells. The energy loss is similar despite this... Probably 10:8:4

Grok is the AI to use if you value truth
X Freeze@XFreeze

Grok 4.20 Non-Hallucination rate improved to even higher than previous highest Just days ago, it hit a record-breaking 78% Non-Hallucination Rate - already #1 in the world, smoking Claude Opus 4.6 (max), Gemini 3.1, GPT-5.4 (xhigh), and every other major model Now, it just pushed that number even higher to 83% While every other AI confidently makes up stuff and fabricate answers it doesn't know - Grok simply says "I don't know"

My pressure washing business did about $250k - $300k per year with most of our revenue coming from ONE Google Business Profile. Our reach covered maybe a 1/4 of our market. Now imagine if we built out 2 or 3 more profiles… Send me a DM if you want to dominate your market locally.

@irentdumpsters Is that not the same for any business? What is specific about pressure washing that makes it hard to have a second van?

I think the hardest part of scaling pressure washing and junk removal businesses is this right here: These guys want to grow their business so they think that getting a second truck is the right answer, which it usually isn't. When you get a second truck, you need to add two more employees and make sure those two employees are busy as well as your current employees. And if they're not busy, you have high employee churn, and they have to go elsewhere. So you're scrambling to get as many leads as possible. You're paying a shit ton of money for leads. And actually, the profit of your company gets smaller while your revenue increases. I have seen this happen time and time again: guys get a second truck, they need to hire more people, and then they have to keep those people busy. They spend a ton of money and lose a ton of money. What I would do in this situation is, instead of getting a second truck, I would probably just convert my current truck to a hook-lift dumpster so I could have one truck but two dumpsters. This way you can do two jobs at once, but you don't have all of the overhead of having a whole entire second truck. You can just drop a dumpster in a driveway, get the job done, and pick it up once it's done with Still, it's really tough to scale one of those businesses by getting a second truck. That's why they're great beginner businesses, but at scale, they're extremely hard to grow.

In one of our busiest months in our last year in the pressure washing business we did $45.2k in revenue across 59 jobs. Majority of those came from Google. No door knocking, no paid ads. 1 crew of 2 guys. That is LEAN. HMU in the DMs if you're trying to get your business ranked on #1 Google.

If you’re trying to make GHL work in your home service business Or you’ve looked at it and thought this feels way too complicated I’ve spent the last week talking to a bunch of home service owners on here about their setups And I keep seeing the same two problems 1 - Half built systems they tried to set up themselves 2 - Giant agency snapshots with way too many features they never use The real key with GHL is simple You have to set it up around how your business actually operates Not around what the software can do Then layer in automation later If you want to have a quick chat about your setup DM me or @Lexivindi
