Notre Dame gets left out of the CFP… The Irish won 10 straight, were ranked ahead of Miami for weeks, and their only losses were Week 1 to No. 10 Miami and Week 2 to No. 7 Texas A&M by a combined four points. Ridiculous decision. One of the best teams in the country.

Let’s get ahead of this now: There is absolutely no reason Alabama should pass Notre Dame in tonight’s rankings.

If Miami had elected not to play ND this year and both teams played a lesser opponent in week 1… - Miami would still be 10-2, with two unranked losses, no big win, and squarely out of the playoff. - ND would likely be 11-1 and even more secure in the playoff spot Playing ND is the ONLY reason Miami has a puncher’s chance at the playoff this year. An opportunity for a marquee win with no conference implications is something everyone should want on their calendar. It’s not Notre Dame’s fault that Miami got cooked in conference play by unranked conference opponents. Miami has to own that.
