@RedRaiderGator 64 teams actually makes the most sense in this tournament moving forward. The only other suggestion I would make is to have both semifinal games on a Sunday and the final the following Saturday.

@pierre_bida @yinzburghsports ESPN on its own is $30/month and has almost nothing worth paying for this of year. If you're smart you're canceling until football season.

@yinzburghsports I don’t necessarily have a problem with it being on Netflix, moreso that it’s behind a paywall. I don’t like the HRD becoming a PPV event.

@sportsrapport The "stadium" IS going to be built without tax payer funding. The TIF was always going to be used for infrastructure. They're building a stadium in a pit with no power or running water. Also, get better friends 🤷‍♂️

I’m old enough to remember when this stadium was going to be constructed with no taxpayer funding Sidenote I have lived in Chicago since 2009. Not one time has a friend ever said let’s go to a Fire game, not even to see Messi

I saw this Chicago Sun-Times article on the Chicago Sun-Times app and thought you’d be interested. From Chicago Sun-Times - Finance Committee approves $425M subsidy for site that includes Fire stadium chicago.suntimes.com/city-hall/2026…

@Snak_Attack18 @edr13332146 @ArranPascoe @billycarpy It's a not a loophole. The rule is to correct the mistake of rewarding twice someone for a deception. The semantics of the title used are broad because otherwise you would need to have a specific title for each case since cases could be varied.

This is correct, right: If the referee had mistakenly called a foul on Paredes, but not a yellow card, Embolo couldn't have been sent off for mistaken identity?

@CamiloE14 @AFCAMDEN Genuinely want to know, is it a cultural thing or a bunch of bad apples (like Reform UK)? I've seen contrasting things and from someone who lives a thousand miles away I have no clue. also COYG

Literally every set of fans I’ve bumped into have said they hope we beat Argentina. People from countries not even in the world cup. Never realised they were universally disliked like this.

@barstoolWSD Part of what thing? You act like they are a powerhouse. They have had the easiest schedule in baseball. Also the clubhouse. You act like it is something special. Its a bad stadium where nobody shows up to the games. Bottom 7 in baseball. Awful fanbase. Stop selling bs

Gotta say. Props to Getz & his staff for keeping Roch under wraps as long as they did. Didn’t hear a peep of a leak that he was even in town a while back. And good on the fellas for selling the clubhouse while he was in town too. Sounds like he’s pumped to be a part of this thing

@Snak_Attack18 @swearimnotpaul Dude, gate receipts is about 9% of FIFA revenue. It's peanuts. The goal is that fans from the countries, who have attended qualifying, can get access to tickets. FIFA aren't a NFL franchise so gouging their customers isn't the goal.

@MarkOConnell1 @swearimnotpaul It's not about what's "necessary", it's about what makes the most money. 68,371 attended that game.

@BluenosedCOOP @swearimnotpaul I'm not talking about requirements. The OP said England is arguably the best host. I disagree, because of the volume of large stadiums. The point, in FIFA's mind, is to maximize revenue. You can't do that with a tournament that has tons of games in 40k seaters.

@billycarpy My other thought is.. If Embolo wasnt already on a yellow, would var have got involved? Or have they seen an opportunity to send someone off and used the vague wording and grey area of "mistaken identity" to do so

@ArranPascoe @billycarpy I thought exactly this. Is there a specific provision in the "mistaken identity" rule for this exact situation? Because if not, it really doesn't feel true to mistaken identity as a concept.

There are 18 members of FIFA's disciplinary committee but the unprecedented decision to lift Balogun's automatic ban was taken by just one person - the chairman Mohammad Al Kamali of UAE. No one else was consulted. Full story: thetimes.com/sport/football…
