@FFTheBravest @starmanblues All the main chips of the MSX1 they produced in Brazil were imported: Z80, TMS9928, i8255 and AY-3-8910. The V9938 wasn't different in that regard. This is so true that both Sharp and Gradiente imported the V9938 to put inside their 80 columns expander cartridges,sold separately.

@ThiagoDjango @yoshimiru_SS It's not the CRT that stretches the image horizontally. Check the MegaDrive at 320x240 res. The NES/MSX1;2;2+/SMS/MD H32 mode/PC-Engine/SNES all follow the same dot-clock specification, and it was designed to stretch the pixels by hardware so it fills the screen horizontally.

@starmanblues Did you know Sharp/Epcom releases a second “white” model (extremely rare, guess it was a prototype) and this “black” model was intended to be a MSX2, the board was “MSX2 ready” but, as the costs of releasing it were “stratospherical”… +

@yoshimiru_SS Your Pixel Art editor ran directly on the Famicom? 😲 I always thought some computer was used for the NES development. And possibly an MSX2 for editing the Pixel Art, since is Pixel Aspect Ratio is the same and GraphSaurus 2.0 was readily available.

@gen_hasegawa_8 Tip: You can use ALT+T to enable the CPU turbo. This speeds up most slow softwares, without the issues of using Shift+alt+↑ (that speeds up the whole emulator).

ブラウザで遊ぶ方への、ちょっとしたコツ。 webMSXでは、F12押してるとFastになるので、敵の思考ルーチンを一気に進めたい時は便利です。 また、Shift+Alt+↑で速度上がります。 150%くらいがちょうど良いかもしれませんが、戦闘でカーソルが滑るので、操作は慎重に。 #MSX #3kings

@spacemoai I gave up trying to raise awareness about this problem a while ago. Some people want to code for the MSX as if it was a ZX-Spectrum or C64: Just hardware without any API. When the compatibility hell breaks lose, they want you to "remove extensions" or "pick a different computer"

Not only does it break the trust that developers using #MSXgl have that software written with it is actually #MSX compatible, it also introduces technical debt for any new MSX standards. A decision must be made to freeze the underlying code or declare MSXgl software incompatible.

Seeing the worst possible advice on MRC Wiki every day is easily the most demotivating thing about being an #MSX developer. If you follow that site's advice you will sure be in violation of all kinds of MSX standards. Due to that nonsense, all #MSXgl programs are non-compliant.

@parupu_x_nagae どうも、当ゲームでキャラクターデザイン+ドット打ちしていた者です。 トリガーのボタンが使いづらいユーザーさんの為に ゲーム立ち上げ前からXキーを押したままスタートすると Aボタンがショット、Bボタンがジャンプになります。 開発当時隠しコマンドにしてたので公開しても良かったと思います。

色々と思い出してきた。 ゲームプログラマーのバイトで、 最初にやったのがMSX版の魔界村だった。 敵キャラの1つを任されたけど、最初は全然分かってなくて大変だった。 でも、「ゲームってこういう構造で動いてるのか」って、いい勉強になったのを覚えてる。

@ny86291592 MSX版の魔界村です。 甲冑を着た主人公が、墓場みたいなところ歩いていくやつ。 結局、発売されなかったの? 僕はてっきりリリースされたのかと思ってました。 まあ、あまり出来が良くなかったイメージ。 スプライトの制限がきつすぎて、作りながら、これ出すの?って思ってましたから。
