These factories produce polyethylene and polypropylene, which contribute to 50% of world plastics production. Production rate is 5-6 million tons per year, 2% of the total world production.

Interesting: freelance (self-employed) computer workers have accelerated sharply in 2025. Note this is an index with a 2019 base--self-employed workers are a small fraction of computer occupations. But I wouldn't have necessarily expected this behavior.

"Wow the economy must be booming because rail volumes are way up." Re: April 2026 AAR Rail Industry Overview When diesel price rises by 45% over a couple months, it makes things more expensive to ship by truck, so shippers switch to rail which is much cheaper. With firms in no rush to process or receive goods, on account of a slowing economy, relatively slower rail service works just fine. This is not the signal you think it is. Don't get fooled again. 2008 for reference:
