@SoberWithConnor That put the funniest picture in my head of the sun beginning to peek through the clouds and hordes of Scottish people start going absolutely ape-shit and running around losing their minds over it 😂…I do get what you mean. We got this, Connor
28th day sober. I keep writing something and then deleting. Brain is foggy this morning. I guess the important thing is that I’m sober and I will try to remain in gratitude today. Thanks to everyone for continuing to share your respective journeys.
@DhalluAnoop 10 years sober is amazing - Yeah i think it’s common which is weird, it must be as we think about staying sober everyday. I get it a few times a week now
78 days sober. Keep having a recurring dream where i end up breaking my sobriety and drinking alcohol and then having severe regret. I always wake up so relieved that it was a dream 😂
The hardest thing for me is going out my door, putting on a smile and acting like i’m doing okay for everyone that sees me, when i’m absolutely crumbling inside.
The strength it takes to do this is unimaginable but i get through it. That’s one of my hardest battles.
What did drug and alcohol addiction do to me?
criminal record
lost my dream job
£17,000 debt
3x overdoses
family/friends cut ties with me
girlfriend cut ties with me
on going health issues
Do you still think drink/drugs are worth it? Get sober before it’s too late🩵
This is the longest I’ve gone without drinking since I turned 21 (almost 26 now), alcoholism runs strong in my family and although it was never a completely huge issue for me, I know I was dependent on it, and I’m actually very proud of myself for once for making the decision to cut it out and don’t plan on going back.
On X i mainly share my sober journey but if you’re interested in watching me grow and stay sober with my cooking/eating/travelling then please follow my instagram page - SoberWithConnor thank you 😊🩵
@SoberMensClub Correct man. I made a huge mistake that’s following me for the rest of my life. Lost my dream job because of it, left me in a lot of debt, lost relationships and it hinders me ever getting my dream job again. Completely ruins me
Things I wish I learned sooner:
1. Alcohol takes more than it gives.
2. Partying isn’t a personality.
3. Reputation is everything.
4. Criminal records stick.
Some mistakes follow you for life.
@odedanilo My work completely drains me mentally. Talking all day too. So getting home, showered, curtains shut, door locked and cooking a meal to chill by myself in silence is absolutely golden (most times)
