@PlumberAlberta it has nothing to do with what percentage of who. It has to do with treaty and all the legal agreements.

Natives in alberta make up 5-7% of albertas population, that includes metis which aren't even considered indigenous to some treaty members. Why would 95% of the population be held hostage by 5%? Show me the democracy in that.

@VooTheViking No, that is not the reason. It has to do with treaty 5.6.and 7 which predates Alberta as a province itself

Just so I understand this. 302K votes isn't good enough to get the referendum because the indigenous population of 285K weren't consulted? Talk about a fringe minority controlling the will of the majority.

@JoshSmolt No matter what the outcome of a referendum, Alberta can't split away. put your emotions and feelings away and look in to why. You don't have to like it but there is a reason why they can't.

Albertans!!! We followed every BS rule the provincial system laid out… and still got completely screwed. Elections Alberta approved the independence petition on January 2, 2026. Thousands of brave Alberta volunteers, organized, badged and following strict rules were forced to start collecting signatures in the middle of the cold Alberta winter. They did it! For 4 straight months these dedicated Albertans stood outside in freezing conditions on the side of highways, in parking lots, and at store entrances because that’s what the process demanded. No online clicks. Physical signatures only, from real eligible voters. They smashed the requirement and delivered hundreds of thousands of signatures!!! Now the courts (with federal influence and treaty claims) are trying to kneecap the entire thing. This is what “CANADIAN DEMOCRACY” looks like!!! Make Albertans go through the process to have their voices heard… then move the goalposts when they actually succeed. Absolute bullshit. Alberta deserves way better than this!!! Get your @Alberta_UCP membership and lets turn this around! unitedconservative.ca/take-action/me…

@Solopulli My feelings have nothing to do with treaty. You obviously don’t understand our treaties. First Nations don’t contribute nor do they have the right to tell Alberta what and what not to do. You’re misunderstanding Canadian treaty.

.@ABDanielleSmith You are either with us or against us. Choose wisely. We will end your career so fast you won’t see us coming. You pander to invaders and the corrupted Liberal Government. You are running on borrowed time. Alberta will be free of Ottawa even if it means a Civil War,Us against Them. Do not underestimate us. The clock is ticking Danielle……. Not in your favour………. Tick Tock.

@Solopulli @yegwave The land treaties were ceded. That's what I was talking about. But Theres 700000 Albertans that petitioned for a referendum. Most likely it's going to happen..the referendum. Natives will be better off in a new country that wants to prosper more and become bigger then before.
