@SomeTxSignGuy @Rich_Charts @ljmontello If he stops being a data guy for a hot second and saying that cheap housing is possible and actually come out here, and understand the economics of how Midwesterners live and have to find housing, then it would make sense to him. But, bruh, you calling him an “OG”?

You shouldn't be priced out of housing until middle age in the richest country of the most prosperous empire in human history. Demand better.

@ljmontello I am GENX and could not by my first home until age 42. What’s your point?

@BillWiIdin I am 47 years old and I have met maybe one person, ever, who wanted to rent. Nobody wants to rent. You do need to save 20% down on a mortgage. Luckily for me, 20% down on $150K 10 years ago was way easier than what I see today, which is 20% down on $400. You sound cold as hell.

Renting is literally throwing money in a Trash Can. I don’t care what the Market looks like. Buy something or admit you’re failing at life.

The American dream did not die because millennials bought coffee. It died because housing, healthcare, childcare, education, and debt all ate the same paycheck. But sure, tell me more about avocado toast.

@RHS76 @Rich_Charts @ljmontello I am well aware of those places. A crackhouse on the east side of Austin will go for $500K. The OP was talking about how one can find cheap housing in the the south and Midwest. I am saying those homes are cheap for a reason and they are guaranteed not in a city over 100K people.

@SomeTxSignGuy @Rich_Charts @ljmontello No it’s not most of the time. There are smaller places where there are few opportunities and housing isn’t cheap, especially in distressed neighborhoods where flipping houses and gentrification has seeped in like a sponge.

@ATXVideos I am believe that we are the weird ones for wanting nice things. The general populous of Austin LOVES disarray and crime. It sounds like a ridiculous statement but Austinites keep voting for all of this and THEN get bent out of shape when you talk about said disarray and crime.

@squirrelpalooza @optimatessuck @Warnjac China was a weak and starving nation until their government allowed for special economic development zones which would allow for free trade and development, you know, they went half capitalist. This developed a powerful middle class and the powerhouse of China we see today.

@AmericanFemnst This was my experience as well and my parents were not well off. This was me working after school or on weekends. My early career life was very similar into the early 2000's. Some of these posts you would think they were Oliver Twist asking for more gruel.

When I was a teenager in the 90s, everyone had a car and we “cruised” for fun and never worried about gas. We ate fast food and went on dates at restaurants multiple times a week. We went to concerts and raves and bought name brand clothing at the mall. We worked part time and always had extra money. Our parents owned nice houses, worked ordinary jobs, and took us on vacation at least once a year. I feel sorry for Gen Z and Gen Alpha.

@SomeTxSignGuy @MyEyesBlink @NolteNC 1) Costco beers come close to that price, and many of them are way tastier than Coors or similar undrinkable beers like that lol. 2) It is possible not a whole can was used ;-)

Dear Gen Z: Cooked my own supper tonight. Two brats ($3.00) boiled in a can of beer ($1.00) and seared on the grill. Two ears of corn on the cob (66 cents). Two diced potatoes, fried and seasoned (80 cents). Bowl of vanilla yogurt (60 cents). Glass of milk (30 cents). Total: $6.36 You idiots spent more at Starbucks this morning.

@MyEyesBlink @NolteNC My point is, Coor Light is a cheap beer and, at least where I live, it is about $15 per 12 pack. That about $1.25 per. Fresh corn on the cob, is about $.068 per ear of corn. I understand the OP's point, but the numbers are still rounded down for effect.

@washghost1 This war on nicotine for "health" is odd in nations hell-bent on lowering their own population.
