NFL Wildcard MIN vs LAR | Monday 13th 🏈 TJ Hockenson o41.5 Receiving Yards TE | Minnesota Analysis Below ⤵️ Big bounceback game for TJ incoming after Darnold couldn't hit the side of a barn. He saw 8 targets last game, his second highest of the season, but only ended up with 2 rec for 9 yards.. pathetic. Hockenson is over this line in 5/10 games this season, most notably 5/8 with at least 25 routes ran. Since returning from injury, TJ is averaging 4.1 receptions for 45.5 yards on 28.2 RR/game. He is also averaging 6.2 targets in this time. The Rams happen to be very vulnerable to TE's this season, giving up the 4th MOST yards and 2nd MOST receptions. A quick note is that Hockenson is lined HEAVILY for o3.5 receptions at -180, and with 4+ catches, he is 5/5 this season (was 13/14 last season). Just last week, Noah Fant went 5/63 on 6 targets and Trey McBride -> 12/123 on 16 targets the week before. Some other TE's vs LAR just since December started: Conklin [NYJ] - 5/59 (7 tar) Kittle [SF] - 4/61 (7 tar) Johnson [NO] - 5/36 (7 tar) Hockenson should have a field day. The Rams like to run a lot of zone, typically Cover 3. Obviously Cover 3 can leave defenses vulnerable to some quicker underneath passes where TJ should get fed. Versus any zone coverage, TJ has the 2nd highest TGT%, only behind JJettas, but ahead of Addison, Nailor, and Jones. Since Hockensons return, Darnold has had 22+ completions in 8/10 games. In those top 5 completion games [GB, IND, JAX, CHI x2], Hockenson ahs excelled averaging 5.6 receptions and 66.6 yards (heavily weighed down by IND game, his first game back, where he went 3/27). Removing that Indianapolis game, he is avg 6.3 receptions for 76.5 yards. Just think we got a huge discounted line after the 2/9 DET game.
