Petit rappel à @GodinMarc2 et @jerome_perrault concernant le financement des films. Je vais citer le Film Français 2026. On considère qu'un film effectue une performance honorable à partir du moment où il atteint dans les salles un amortissement d'environ 25%. La Pampa, par exemple (2.98M€) a eu un amortissement de 26% avec 200 000 entrées. Est-ce un flop? Non. Dracula de Luc Besson est voulu par certains cinéphiles français comme un bide pour des raisons de moeurs, judiciaires ou de contentieux artistiques personnels. Je n'en ai aucun. J'analyse les chiffres depuis 40 ans, et le cas de ce film m'intéresse, il est le plus vu à l'étranger pour une production hexagonale depuis 2017. Le dernier Astérix qui avait coûté 62M$ n'avait rapporté que 46M$ dans le monde, dont 35/36 en France. La locomotive Dracula a coûté 30M$. Il a été un lourd échec sur notre territoire pour les raisons citées au-dessus, ce qui ne lui permet pas d'être amorti sur notre seul marché. Mais, il a été acheté sur de nombreux territoires où il a, contre toute attente surperfomé (Russie, Italie et Etats-Unis où il a eu une promo de dernière minute via un distributeur mineur qui n'avait jamais dépassé les 5M$ de recettes de son histoire récente). Au total, le film acheté par des dizaines de marchés mondiaux, et notamment pour la VOD, est destiné à finir sur toutes les plateformes de SVOD internationales avec un écho qui sera positif. Sa petite baisse aux USA en 3e semaine malgré la perte d'écrans, confirme le bon écho nord-américain. Sur IMDB, les spectateurs locaux l'ont globalement notés très positivement, au-dessus des avis britanniques ou italien et allemands, et évidemment polarisés des Français qui devient un markeur de guerres genrées, sociales, bref, c'est devenu politique, alors que le monde est resté neutre à ce sujet, et a pu juger le film pour ce qu'il était, honorable, pas un must-see, mais pas la merde décrite par certains par ici. Besson n'investit pas dans le marketing dans le monde. Ce n'est pas son souci. Mais il a vendu le film dans la plupart des pays majeurs. Les contrats détaillés par marché étranger ne nous ont pas été révélés. Mais l'on sait que le film connaît une distribution VOD exclusive sur certains marchés, qu'il va vendre quelques formats physiques, sera très vite sur Netflix ou Prime, en prime de TF1 qui est co-producteur et sur M6. Bref, on ne fait pas 40M$ de recettes réparties de façon large aussi dans le monde et non pas juste sur un territoire, sans avoir la possibilité d'augmenter ses gains sur tous ces marchés. Et donc, dans ce contexte, on attent carrément le prochain Luc Besson qui est le seul à avoir une telle exposition internationale.
