@ReimuNotMoe @SonicDesktop I have always liked lxde in the past and currently using LXQT for lightness I never really cared for KDE as it's very heavy with the sonic de does it use less resources then KDE?

I have been daily driving Artix Linux + XLibre + SonicDE for one month. This combination is rock solid.

@BrodieOnLinux @XLibreDev The basic idea behind SonicDE is to preserve and improve the X11 specific aspects of KDE. We don’t need any Wayland. When it comes to adoption, we’re not concerned with clicks, conformity, etc. Our focus is on working software and providing an option for the freedom of choice.

@SonicDesktop @XLibreDev I'm not saying don't support X11, I'm saying dropping Wayland and only offering X11 guarantees that the project will never see wider adoption

If you want to go and remove Wayland support from an DE, it's your project, do what you want with it, but do keep in mind that by doing so you're never going to see widespread adoption on Linux.
If you want to change the direction from Wayland, going back to X11 is not it.

@SonicDesktop Note anybody reading this you got to switch to the Testing branch in order for this to work. Does not work on the Stable Branch. Managed to get this to work after some trial and error. Might want to note that on the Github there was a bit of confusion there.

@iKaran70 @probonopd X11 is the protocol. The X.Org project hasn't released any new features since 2021, but its fork @XLibreDev is under active development.

@Linux247 Most troubling. I prefer KDE, but if I want to play games I'm going to need X11. Alternatives exist, however going through all of them to find out what works for me will be tedious.

Today, #Vendefoul Wolf becomes the only distro with #SonicDE now that #DistroWatch has activated the search by environment, selecting the desktop environment to search for. Congratulations to SonicDE, and we hope more names will appear on the list soon!
