I’ll be interested to see how OKC adapts to Jalen Williams’ return It was a struggle that first time he got healthy and he hasn’t been healthy enough this year for the team to gel with him

@JeraldAmir C’mon - the Spurs were taken to six games by a very depleted Timberkitty team - not gonna be as close as many think -

Imma just say this for everyone, Daignault did not show his cards in any of the games we played them. He has something brewing he saw do stretches and we got everything the Spurs can and will do in this series.

It ain't complicated. The Rockets openly admitted their top priority in the 2024 draft was shooting and Reed had hit 52.1% of his threes at Kentucky. Castle would've been redundant with Amen, Tari, and Dillon(and even Jae'Sean) on the roster. I'd also add two things. First, Reed has been far from a disappointment so far as a pro. The team went 17-4 with him as a starter in the regular season and he hit 39.4% of his threes. Second, if you put him in a coherent offensive system like the Spurs'(with Wemby protecting the paint at the other end, no less), he'd be thriving even more. On top of that, let's be honest. Castle would've barely played in 2024-25 given how wing heavy the roster was. He would've been glued to the bench alongside Cam.

Just so curious to know what the internal deliberations truly were that led to Stone taking Reed over Castle. Because any way you slice it, what Castle is doing right now on the big stage is a complete embarrassment for the Rockets and their talent evaluation processes. And I’m saying this as someone who thinks Reed can become a star in the right setting and still holding out hope that he can eventually become the better player when the dust settles. But that’s shaping up to be an extremely high bar. We just saw Castle close out the Wolves with 32-11-6 with 5 threes, while playing elite defense to send the Spurs to the WCF. Meanwhile, Ime Udoka doesn’t even trust Reed Sheppard to close out meaningless regular season games in January. Complete failure by the Rockets organization from top to bottom.

@RedNinetyFour We never got a #1 pick during the rebuild. That hurts. Wemby should be a Rocket. But worst record gets 4th pick. It's ridiculous.

Watching these first 2 rounds has been incredibly depressing realizing just how far away we are simply by comparing franchise players alone. OKC: Shai SAS: Wemby LAL: Luka MIN: Ant HOU: Fred VanVleet

@Scouting_Col I'm fine with him in the 30-40 range understanding that the ceiling is likely capped at role player/7th man and that he will not be a redraft steal. At 19 it not crazy to project a peak Graves playing at 240+lbs as a small high skill big in the Boris Diaw mold

Allen Graves isn’t a top-40 prospect for me. I get the elite advanced numbers and maybe he carves out a bench role, but I don’t see how he returns top-20 value based on the athletic tools. Plus, who does he guard at the next level?

@DraftDeeper If OKC gets BURRIES. That's the Dort replacement but with better OFFENSIVE game. That would be a huge STEAL for OKC. Normally I don't want another guard for them but if BURRIES is available? I'm taking him. 6'4 and built like a tank

Sam Presti has a great ability now to build a team with fantastic depth. He was absolutely terrible in the Durant/Westbrook years though. Derek Fisher, Kendrick Perkins, Eric Maynor, Kyle Singler, Dion Waiters, etc. played and were awful. It cost the Thunder some titles.

@damanr It's pretty simple to explain. They kick your ass on defense because they are allowed to by the refs. Then they use that to generate fast break points. That's the reason they win.

Tweeted this yesterday but my respect for OKC has grown. Yes there are antics, but they are a distraction, that’s a championship organization for a reason. I respect what they’re about.
Daman Rangoola@damanr

Somebody last night asked me who was a casual NBA fan about what makes OKC so dominant and it was helpful for me to articulate in that context: -#1 by far: For 48 minutes across all 5 positions there’s not a single thing you can target, which is what the playoffs become about. Each player has a offensive and defensive baseline that is productive - RARE -SGA as offensive hub is probably underrated at this point -Their defensive ceiling due to lack of weak link is one of the higher you’ll see, and they can win games in 3-4 min stretches where they smother you and generate easy offense from that

I couldn’t be more out on Keaton Wagler There is just no way a 6’5 guy with a 6’6 wingspan has no first step, can’t jump is working out in a high end way without being like a historically great shooter/touch guy and he shot sub 80% on fts and sub 50% on 2s Just no way

Just based off of interviews and past draft knowledge I would say Quaintance/Yaxel would be our pick at 12 if available.

@CAlmanza1007 Worst luck they had was two picks jumping up - rockets pick to get Jalen Green would have been ours at 5 unless they got top 5. And we should’ve had the Sixers pick at eight, but they jumped up last year.

It hasn't really mattered, but it's wild how the Thunder haven't had a single lottery pick they've owned from another team jump up in all these years. Their only top-5 pick on the roster is Holmgren lol

@leroybickerstaf 100% agree with you, I do think Yaxel is top 10 talent wise, it’s just his age is such a big red flag. He basically has one season to show promise unlike the other players that are 19 and 20.

@JoshEberley Ridiculous. Spurs gave up next to nothing for Fox. They traded 3 firsts, but it was their own '27 first (probably in the 20s), the Bulls’ top-10 protected pick back to them, and the Hornets’ top-14 protected pick that turned into two second-rounders if not conveyed last year.

Fox is a good player but I never liked that trade for San Antonio. And although he’s brought positive dimensions to that squad, I really just think there are/were better star fits short and long term.

@whatsontapnba Sga is not generational. He’s the best player on the most loaded roster in the league. Their GM is more valuable than he is. The lakers couldn’t guard a backup pg last night making 3 mil per year.

All of these can be true about the OKC 1. OKC is on an all-time trajectory 2. Shai is generational 3. The greatest rebuild ever and a lot of respect is deserved there 4. There’s a valid frustration about HOW they draw fouls in contrast to how physical they can play defensively 5. Flopping is bad for the sport 6. 29 other fanbases aren’t crazy for their frustrations

Chet's looking like a Top 15 guy. His shot looks the best I've ever seen it. He's cutting/finishing brilliantly, attacking the offensive glass & playing his most aggressive, efficient offense yet... as a Top 2 defender alive. 19/9 on 70% TS with 4 stocks in the playoffs. Sheesh.

The time the second apron might become an issue is if Ajay becomes an all star which I think is fairly possible and in that case when his contract expires in 2 years they will probably have difficulty retaining him but by that point Presti will have probably found someone else
