A Midjourney engineer finally just fixed it.
It’s called Pretext:
A tiny library that lets websites lay out text the way magazines and newspapers do, with text flowing around images, wrapping into columns, and fitting perfectly into any shape, all at 120fps.
This has been basically impossible on the web for 30 years. Every website you’ve ever used relies on the same clunky system from the 90s to figure out where text goes on screen. Pretext bypasses it entirely. 500x faster.
The demos look like they shouldn’t be possible in a browser. Go look.

Today, the Department of the Treasury is issuing a narrowly tailored, short-term authorization permitting the sale of Iranian oil currently stranded at sea. At present, sanctioned Iranian oil is being hoarded by China on the cheap. By temporarily unlocking this existing supply for the world, the United States will quickly bring approximately 140 million barrels of oil to global markets, expanding the amount of worldwide energy and helping to relieve the temporary pressures on supply caused by Iran. In essence, we will be using the Iranian barrels against Tehran to keep the price down as we continue Operation Epic Fury. This temporary, short-term authorization is strictly limited to oil that is already in transit and does not allow new purchases or production. Further, Iran will have difficulty accessing any revenue generated and the United States will continue to maintain maximum pressure on Iran and its ability to access the international financial system. So far, the Trump Administration has been working to bring around 440 million additional barrels of oil to the global market, undercutting Iran’s ability to leverage its disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. President Trump’s pro-energy agenda has driven U.S. oil and gas production to record levels, strengthening energy security and lowering fuel costs. Any short-term disruption now will ultimately translate into longer-term economic gains for Americans – because there is no prosperity without security.

Gold appreciates. And that’s bad, because if you have it you have decreasing incentive to spend it. So it’s deflationary. You are incentivised to horde it. Even if a chair maker has capacity to scale up production, he won’t do it unless he can get the capital to fund expansion - but why led to him when merely sitting on your gold will make you richer next year?
This is where most common critics of wealth come from and the idea of a Scrudge McDuck type.
Thin air/ paper money is merely a medium of exchange which is worth nothing and basically just acts as a distributed ledger of account between trading parties - and if the ledger needs to be expanded to facilitate more trade, it’s easy. If you horde cash and don’t use it, your purchasing power is devalued over time through inflation which is a sort of ‘use it or lose it’ cost to compel people to engage in economic activity.
