@Yungshineegga This new version is basically the major part of Stage 1. We push this App to a new level and a more solid foundation. As for the Stage 2, let’s say a peak of the future I guess.

@SpaceSam_AI What's stage 1? And what's next for stage 2? 👀
English

Since it's a huge upgrade to the whole App, we have to make sure there's no serious issue and gradually expand the rollout. Over the past year, Essential Space has basically maintained two regular updates per month and one major feature upgrade per month. This update will lay a solid foundation for our future plans, so we really appreciate your patience and continued support along the way.
English

@SpaceSam_AI Please do a web app for Essential Space as your Stage 2.
As currently this is how my Essential Space looks. I just don't wanna put my data into a service that's not available on all the platforms I use

English

@AntonioLevyVa @essential It’s being rolled out gradually. If you don’t see the update notification yet, please be patient and wait a bit.

@essential When will all the content be connected if I use multiple Nothing phones? 🙂

the most underrated hire right now is a great product person.
when i say product person i'm def not talking about a product manager. perhaps i think there has to be somewhat of a new role. i don't have a good name for it yet but maybe something like "product thinker".. someone with an intuitive grasp of the product as it exists, where it's soft, where it sings, & how to iterate it toward something even sharper. in some sense, this person has to cohesively hold in their head where this product should be 2 years from now & work backwards from that.
i say this cuz when building was hard, engineering was the bottleneck & the status hierarchy often reflected that. building is no longer hard. which means the variance in outcomes has shifted almost entirely to judgment on what to build, how to sequence it, & how to talk about it.
& the story matters as much as the thing. internally, it organizes the team around a shared model of why. externally, it shapes the interpretive frame users bring to their first experience. you can't retrofit narrative onto a product & expect it to land, it has to be load bearing from the start.
the rarest version of this person sits at the intersection of culture & deep technology. someone genuinely bilingual. they know what's technically possible & they know which cultural currents are real vs. ephemeral. that combo is what separates products that feel inevitable from products that feel assembled.
before ppl clap back with this person has always been valuable, i know.. i am just saying now they might be the most *important* person in the room. their value compounds like never before.

Automatically! When generating an AI summary in Essential Space, system will also run an embedding-based retrieval to check whether there are any previously stored related Captures. If matches are found, they will be linked. This happens in parallel with the AI analysis, and no data is stored or processed beyond the local device.
English

@essential Are related captures linked automatically by the Essential Space or is it a manual process like the collections/folders?

2025 All-Day Wearable Smart Glasses 👓
(Display Edition)
Let me know which one you’d choose.
2025 has been a pretty wild year for smart glasses. Every major player is launching something, but here are the two display-equipped pairs I personally think are the most worth buying for all-day wear.
(This is a very subjective ranking, with zero intention of dragging any other brand or product — I’m looking purely from a daily-wear perspective.
And of course: if your only use case is taking photos, the Ray-Ban Meta glasses are still the obvious pick.)
No.1 – Even G2 Series + R1 Ring
As @EvenRealities ’ second-generation glasses, the Even G2 Series keeps the original design language but refines all the details:
- Cleaner, more minimal aesthetics
- Even lighter weight, which makes them one of the best options right now for true all-day wear
- An upgraded display area, so information density and readability both improve
Paired with the R1 ring for input, the overall interaction experience jumps to another level. In practice, it gets surprisingly close to the feeling of Meta’s Ray-Ban + neural wristband style interaction (though I still think the EMG wristband is a bit cooler conceptually).
In short, the G2’s biggest strengths are lightness and style: you can keep them on all day without much fatigue, and you still get all the core smart-glasses functions you’d expect, plus everything the ring can offer. That’s why the G2 takes my No.1 spot for 2025.
No.2 – Quark AI Glasses
Similar to Meta’s approach, a major Chinese internet company @AlibabaGroup has used its own ecosystem and tech stack to build the Quark AI Glasses, which are genuinely impressive.
Compared with the Even G2:
Quark adds both a camera and speakers, so the weight jumps to around 50g. But thanks to strong software, it still delivers an excellent real-world experience.
The standout use case for me is navigation while driving.
Not walking, not cycling — actual in-car navigation. Quark manages to:
- Stay out of your line of sight
- Place visuals at just the right position
- Time information so it appears exactly when you need it
The highly customizable system also makes it very fun to tinker with — things like custom notifications and other tweaks. And the AI in this device is Qwen, Alibaba's own AI model.
If you’re curious, I recommend checking out AK’s Quark review on YouTube. It’s detailed and very professional.
So why is Quark still ranked No.2?
- China-only (for now): it’s officially launched only in mainland China
- No ring interaction: it relies on two touch pads on the temples for control
- Aesthetics: in my opinion, it doesn’t look as good on-face as the Even G2
- Weight: ~50 g is basically the upper limit of what I’d call “all-day wearable” (again, very subjective)
What about Meta Ray-Ban Display?
Most people already know this product pretty well. It’s undeniable that Meta is ahead of the curve in both interaction and industrial design here.
But:
Battery life
Weight
And very strict system + regional restrictions
…all significantly limit how easy it is to recommend from an all-day wear perspective. If you’re focused on long, everyday use, it’s hard for the Meta Ray-Ban Display to compete.
One last detail:
Both Even G2 and the Quark Smart Glasses have almost no front light leakage when viewed head-on.
