@Giodude1580 @criminalplaza Happens that way in the books as well. This excerpt is from the flash back in the book where we learn he was forced to be the Hail Mary's science specialist. It's the same shock in the book, only more emotional and intimate imo.

@criminalplaza I do really love the book version But as someone who hasn’t read the book, it became a bigger shock watching it play out, I genuinely was under the impression he willingly went after thinking for a while, but to learn he was drugged n everything was crazy

@Ozzny_CS2 It's almost, ALMOST, like CS fans are the biggest cry babies in the entire competitive gaming scene. Screaming, crying, pissing their pants every time anything changes even before they've even tried out the changes themselves. I'm fucking tired of it, and I bet the devs are too.

@VisualFidelity Artistic intent matters no matter how "bad" the game might look. Art is subjective, but AI reduces everything to the same level of dog shit. It looks awful. Absolutely terrible. Realistic maybe, in some ways, but the AI artifacts sure aren't very pleasing to the eye nor realistic

I still can't believe people rejected Starfield DLSS 5 upgrade to retain "artistic intent" You really think this was the developer's artistic intent 😂

@BoatScarecrow @Robotbeat Yeah, but we never get to see Grace know that. I don't care about earth nearly as much as I do about Grace and Rocky. That emotional payoff is the final peak of the movie, and I think it's really important to the story and Grace's character.

@SpankeyMcCheeks @Robotbeat In the movie they instead flash back to earth receiving the Beatles and preparing to use the info. That's a fine way of showing it

They improve the ending compared to the book, too. (The ending in the book works, but it would be kind of a downer if translated literally to the screen.)
Movies, politics, life.@urbanmyths

@sircalebhammer There are four or five scenes at the end of Project Hail Mary when you think the movie is over. People start getting ready to leave before they realize the movie isn't over yet. It keeps going and going until it ties up every last thread, and the ending is absolutely perfect.

@CreatorJonwPuck @HarlysCorner Even a broken clock is right twice a day, right? So what you can replicate certain specific pheomena, during very specific conditions. It all falls apart when the conditions change. That's the difference between this bullshit and the scientific consensus.

@KCharlesRoss @Robotbeat As I mentioned to you in another comment, yeah, I get that. Age Grace up 20-25 years and include the scene like it is in the book. Perfect ending.

@SpankeyMcCheeks @Robotbeat In the book Grace has aged something like 25 years. Movie Grace looks to have not aged. Assuming it took about the same time for the Beetles to reach earth as Grace/Rocky to reach Erid, 40 Eridani is 16.5 light years away. Grace would have to be 20+ yrs older.

@SpankeyMcCheeks @Littoral_Gecko @Robotbeat In the movie not enough time has passed (based on Grace’s appearance) for earth to have fixed the sun and the sun’s light to have traveled to Erid. It felt to me like the movie was holding the door open to a sequel.

@Littoral_Gecko @Robotbeat i think the emotional beat present in the book when grace finds out sol has returned to full luminance really should've been there in the movie too. making grace feel like it was all worth it, his and his crews' sacrifice.

@Robotbeat What do you mean? Like the book not showing earth? I think they both work. I liked the vague but positive ending of the book. But Stratt is a more full character in the movie, so it felt right that there was an extra scene with her.

Let me explain what a $2 billion “cow collar” actually is 👇 They put an AI collar on a cow. It tracks location. Health. Movement. Behavior. Every second of every day. A farmer opens an app. Draws a line on a map. That line becomes a fence. No physical fence. No wall. Nothing visible. When the cow gets close to the boundary.. the collar vibrates. The cow turns around. Within 10 days the animal doesn’t even test the boundary anymore. It just stays inside. 700,000 animals are already wearing them. They called it a “cowgorithm.” They want you to laugh at it. Now read the technology again without the word cow.. 24/7 GPS tracking on every individual. Real time health and behavior monitoring. Invisible boundaries drawn from a phone. Movement controlled through vibration and sound. Subject learns compliance within days. $2 billion. And guess who led the investment… Peter Thiel. The same man who built Palantir. CIA backed surveillance from day one. The same man who just got a $10 billion Pentagon contract to run AI inside the military. His entire career is building systems that track and control. Now he’s funding a collar that does exactly that. They’re not investing in farming. The farming is the test… Most people have no idea what’s coming…
Polymarket@Polymarket

JUST IN: AI cow collar startup Halter raises at $2,000,000,000.00 valuation, uses proprietary “cowgorithm” to herd cattle.

@SpankeyMcCheeks @gutsylivv And what I’m saying is that a lot of obsessive virtue signalling AI posters make it very clear in their phrasing that they genuinely believe water mass is lost, which make them look like misinformed idiots even when the concern is justified.

@alexroussx @gutsylivv AI "consumes" water in the sense that the data-centers and training clusters use fresh water for cooling. That water doesn't just disappear, of course, but it is being taken out of the usable pool (pun intended) of fresh water for the local population to use.
