@seashell_luvr I’m not entirely convinced that what you’ve described is a gendered issue. My theory is that women are more conflict avoidant and sometimes confrontations are needed in order to strengthen a bond between two people. Misunderstandings left unaddressed can lead to further contempt.

A big part of it is women have higher standards in relationships with their girlfriends. A man’s buddy will cheat on his girlfriend, be an egregious person, and he’ll still let it slide because that’s his bro. Women, in my experience, tend to uphold a specific moral standard to their friendships, beyond the friendship merely being fun and functional.

Men routinely overestimate the amount of childcare and housework they do. Women underestimate how much they do and overestimate how much their husbands do. One solution: dads should commit to doing 70% of the work and it’ll wind up closer to 50-50.
