I like a colourful game, CER is mostly fine, it’s the grass that is just a little fluorescent.

Finally started tinkering with campaign evolved. Nice thing about Unreal Engine is this is so much easier than Halo Infinite was. My 5090 is whirling. What graphical masterpiece.

@lastchalice Well what is it that makes you think that? My only problem with the remake is that certain music tracks don’t fit the mood (Perchance to Dream playing in the Library for example) and some of Cortana’s line deliveries being slightly worse. But the positives outweigh the negatives.

@SpartanDaz Of course, but a good remake still retains much of what made the original experience what it was. I feel that wasn’t the case here.

Halo: Campaign Evolved short and broad review for those who do not want to read a novel: + I loved it as a new Halo experience and as a template for Halo moving forward - I was pretty disappointed in it as a remake, it just feels like a different game More Halo makes me happy.

I was absolutely psyched when I saw these. There are tons of cylixes in the library now that I'm really happy to see. Shame we never got the cut wildlife from back in the day, but happy this little Easter egg is there.

@justahaloguy The writing was really disappointing considering how excited I was when I had heard Troy Denning was writing it, but at least the gameplay was the some of the best in the whole franchise. Hopefully we’ll get to see Kelly Gay work on the games someday.

Halo Campaign Evolved’s prequel missions are an absolute BLAST. They look and feel like Halo. Never a dull moment in the combat loop and are a blast to play through. A 10/10 player experience. That said, I was not impressed with the story or the dialogue/exposition. 6/10. (1/2)

@NakaiCanon I’m still disappointed by the fact that they used the Warlord/General armour for the zealots. Like it’s not the end of the world, but surely some of the resources that went into making the premium skins could’ve been used for a zealot armour set.

The short-story “Hungry Buzzards” spends the whole plot building up a group of Marines only for the Chief to say, “Actually, I know a better person for the job,” and it’s Johnson. The whole reason Chief chose him is because of Silent Storm. I don’t get the need to re-tell this.

After dissecting Operation: METEORITE’s terminals, I think I have a better understanding of what those devices on the Jiralhanae are: they’re some sort of device that injects some chemical drug into the body of a directionless Brute, making him compliant and submissive, unless….

After the San Shyuum plot points in Divine Wind, Empty Throne and now the Campaign Evolved prequel missions, there’s no way they aren’t coming back for a later Halo title. They must be cooking something up that’s big.
