@stephen_taylor @905WalterK Things that cant be undone is the constitution which wrote in socialism, DEI, 2 tier rights, no separation of powers, no checks & balances & no protection of rights. .. & and there is no mechanism to fix.. Who would want that?

People are surprised that I don't support Alberta independence. I live in Ontario. I support the expression of anger and frustration. But I don't support the proposed solution.

Experiencing Canada's petition process reveals how broken the system is. Politicians speak of sovereignty while accepting subordination. Alberta, like Canada globally, lacks a real seat at the table and is treated as a subordinate. #CanadianPolitics #Alberta

Keith is wrong. If he is not, I will gladly admit it. Danielle Smith is prepared to appeal the decision on the Alberta independence referendum and is prepared to take years to do it. In that time Alberta will be flooded with hundreds of thousands of new citizens Mark Carney and the Liberals will hand pick, from around the world. Stacking the deck against independence. Being fully aware of what is going on, is critical. Smith's argument is that this ruling will impact how Alberta is governed, so any appeal will be lengthy, by design. She will slow walk this for years to ensure independence never happens. That is a fact. Anyone who thinks she won't, is not paying attention.
Keith Wilson@ikwilson

I agree with the flow chart, but not the timescale. If we win the Oct. 19 vote, I believe the key independence referendum will be in February or March 2027. And just as a general FYI for everyone: there is no “blackout rule” for holding a referendum in an election year. That rule applies to Citizen Initiative Act petitions, not referendum votes.

@WScafemirror Does it make you wonder why do the PPL want govs? What are the specific reasons that PPL want any level of gov for?

@echipiuk Its fine if the referendum is to elect PPL or on secession but not 2 make laws & policy. Rule by referendum is evil & far from freedom. 51% controlling the other 49% enslaves & robs individual rights. USA made equal individual rights 2 stop majority rule/ tyranny of the majority.

Another thing I find strange in this referendum discussion, in addition to the debate about whether people should even have a say, is the sudden concern about the cost of a referendum. Of all the things governments spend money on, hearing directly from citizens is not where I draw the line on the public purse. But if we are going to start questioning the cost or purpose of a referendum, then we should be prepared to apply that same scrutiny to all public spending. Where are the billions going? Why are people waiting more than 12 hours in emergency rooms to see a doctor? Why does it take weeks to issue a passport? Why do some of our roads look like they belong in a war-torn country? Because it certainly does not feel like public money is consistently being used for the public good. I am a huge proponent of transparency and accountability. And I mean serious transparency and accountability, where spending is visible to the public in real time, where decision-makers must answer for how public money is used, and where meaningful consequences, including criminal consequences, follow misconduct and corruption. So where exactly do people want to draw the line? On citizens having a voice? Or on transparency, accountability, and consequences for public officials and institutions when public trust is violated? To make a fuss about the cost of giving citizens an opportunity to express their views on an important issue? Come on. Let’s get serious. In a democratic society, citizens should not have to ask permission to make their voices heard. And using public funds to hear directly from the public should be viewed as one of the most legitimate uses of the public purse in the first place. At the end of the day, democracy is not supposed to be convenient for governments. It is supposed to be responsive to the people. If we start treating public participation as an unnecessary expense instead of a democratic necessity, then we are asking the wrong questions entirely. Citizens are not the problem to be managed; they are the very foundation of the system.

@bruce_mcgonigal Yep. I agree. I'm wondering if Keith is trying not to annoy the UPC because of a possible burgeoning political career once Smith is replaced.

@bruce_mcgonigal Keith is wrong. He was also wrong about the Clarity Act being the path to AB Independence. Some of said publicly that it was not the way, but were castigated for it.

@jkenney Ottawa is tearing the country you're so proud of apart. Albertan's ARE hard working, innovative and loyal people... we're also smart enough to know we didn't leave Canada... it left us. So... we're going to make the leaving permanent.

Like the vast majority of Albertans, I’m both a proud Canadian, and a proud Albertan. We are a smart, hard working, innovative and loyal people. Those who went before us built one of the most prosperous and generous societies on Earth. And we’re not going to let anyone tear apart our home, the true North strong and free. It’s time to fight for our country. Alberta: let’s lead, not leave. votetostay.ca/about/

@Speaking4m @repatriot_ab Keeping the federal government to the basic jurisdictions would be a great start. Maybe we could get a true confederation...ah never mind, I think we moved on.

We all know that we need a leadership change. The current leadership is working against the interests of the people and independence. Our votes make no difference at the federal level and now at the provincial level. The only way we can make our votes count is at the party level.

@repatriot_ab The federal government is using these chiefs. Paying them outrageous sums, no accountability-why? Speculate wherever but in the end, they too will be turfed when they are no longer useful to achieve the goal.

“Risk” is a word people use when they care deeply. About their kids. Their parents. Their work. Their home. This land beneath their feet. Sovereignty is a big step. But so is doing nothing. Which risk do we choose? #LetsTalkAlberta

Looking for more information on the planning for an independent Alberta? How could it work? Who would be involved? How could federal responsibilities be transferred without disruption? Follow this account.
Alberta Transition Council@ATCAlberta

Introducing the Alberta Transition Council. We're doing the serious, professional work behind one practical question: how an independent Alberta would actually function — lawfully, responsibly, and without disruption. We think that question deserves real planning. More soon.

@Tim418385956391 @thevivafrei US has begun fixing lots There's many red states, free & getting by.. USA's inalienable rights are what's needed 2 correct.. Its not a perfect constitution & definitely needs overhauling but all in good time. Its possible. A great constitution makes the country, not the leader..

@Speaking4m @thevivafrei America is not fixing or amending anything. America is occupied. Trump failed miserably. And that’s a fact. Canada will never be FIXED until Americans take back its constitutional republic. It was never meant to be a democracy.
