The commemoration of the bravery, tragedy and importance of D-Day is not ever the place to try and score cheap political points. What an ignorant and disrespectful dumbass.

Pete Hegseth in Normandy: Sadly, today different European beaches are stormed by different dangerous ideologies. In Spain and Italy and Greece and Bulgaria, boats and men arrive. When will European capitals do something about that invasion? Or is it too late?

Please stop with the “we’d rather let them go then bailout billionaires” nonsense. Indiana has a dramatically lower tax rate - at all levels - than does Illinois. Is there someone out there who honestly believes Illinois looks out for its taxpayers more than Indiana does? The tax break sought by the Bears in Illinois would not be so obscene if our general tax burden itself wasn’t so obscene. Our tax burden - coupled with a completely dysfunctional and anti business state government to work with - drives many businesses out of Illinois. The Bears are just the latest and most jarring to see leave.

@DarrenBaileyIL Sounds like Darren Bailey needs to get off twitter and talk to some actual economists about public money for stadiums and how that never works out.

Chicago, how do we feel about the Bears reportedly focusing on Hammond, Indiana? Is this another feint? Is it posturing? Is it leverage? Or did Illinois actually just fumble the Bears? At some point this stopped being just a stadium debate and became a business conversation. If Illinois can’t find a compromise and another market gives them a cleaner path to build, control revenue, and create a year-round stadium district, the Bears have to listen. Maybe this is leverage. But Chicago better stop acting like the Bears have nowhere else to go. #DaBears #Bears #ChicagoBears

@danpompei As an Illinois resident I love it. We get to not flush money down the drain giving it to a rich, arrogant sports team. Public financing for stadiums is one of the iron clad bad financial choices a state/city can make. This isn't really up for debate.

Many who go to games will not like it, but the Bears will thrive across the state line. They follow a long line of good businesses out of Illinois, and many more are likely to follow, given the leadership in the Land of Lincoln.

Hoosiers, help me welcome the Chicago Bears to our great state! We look forward to building a partnership as strong as the '85 Bears defense, creating opportunities and economic growth that will benefit our state and the Bears organization for decades to come. An NFL franchise in Northwest Indiana will be an economic boost to the entire region like we haven’t seen before. Thank you to Speaker Huston, the legislature, and Mayor McDermott for their partnership. I also want to thank the entire Chicago Bears organization for their partnership and commitment in making this move a reality. Welcome to Indiana!

@Erinmaguire ? Giving public money to a sports team is one of the universally agreed upon terrible financial choices agreed on by economists. Famously so.

@thorku Current product on the field aside, living in Chicago and watching the Bears ownership in action makes me thankful, their flaws aside, for the Wilfs' ability to be competent owners.

While I’m being told that the Bears announcement on Hammond is “real”, i.e. not a leverage play, a league source told me that the Bears leaving the state is not a done deal. Per source, Indiana is in the lead right now, but “Illinois can still get back in the race,” granted the state has a lot of ground to make up after not passing legislation that would have insured the Bears property tax certainty.

Wow! Chicago had every opportunity to figure this out. The state had every opportunity to find a compromise. Instead, we got delays, finger pointing, posturing, and no real solution. As a lifelong Bears fan and former player, I hate the idea of the Chicago Bears not playing in Chicago. That part stings. The Bears are part of the fabric of this city. But from a business standpoint, it just makes sense. The NFL is a business. The Bears are a business. And at some point, ownership is going to do what gives the franchise the best chance to build a modern stadium, control revenue, create a year-round entertainment district, and stop waiting on politicians who can’t get out of their own way. This is not just a Bears decision. This is a Chicago and Illinois failure. You can criticize the McCaskeys. You can criticize Kevin Warren and the process. But if another city or state is willing to make it easier to build, easier to operate, and easier to grow the value of the franchise, then eventually the business is going to go where it is wanted. That is the part Chicago politicians didn’t seem to understand. You don’t keep iconic businesses, franchises, or institutions by assuming they have nowhere else to go. Eventually, they do. #DaBears #Bears #ChicagoBears

The Bears’ Board of Directors voted Thursday to advance the stadium development in Hammond, Indiana, with the exact to be selected. This is this first time that the Bears’ board has voted on any stadium site. As one source said, “There is more work to do but barring anything very strange, it’s a done deal.”

Message from new 60 Minutes executive producer Nick Bilton to show staff: Team, You should hear this from me first. We have parted ways with Scott Pelley. I know how much Scott meant to many of you, and I don't say this lightly. I made repeated attempts to have direct conversations with him over the weekend, and this afternoon I tried to find common ground. That was not the path Scott chose. What I regret most is that this situation interfered with the conversation I had hoped to have with you about Season 59 and the future of this show. I realize this is a great deal of change in a very short time, and I wouldn't pretend otherwise. I won't relitigate the last week with you here. What I will commit to is this: My unyielding support for each of you, the journalism that you do and what we will do together going forward. Nick
