Salt water would destroy anything but titanium which is 10x the price. Dirty water will corrode. Legacy designs use evaporative cooling as a direct method or for cooling water chillers. Chips and servers were air cooled. Generation 2 used air cooled chillers with closed loops. Still air cooled chips. No water usage. Generation 3 designs are liquid cooled chips but still required cooler water which still required chillers. Most generally we were using air cooled chillers with closed loops or water cooled chillers with dry cooling towers. No water usage. Next generation in design are now using updated NVidia specs which will remove the chillers (likely). Still closed loops. No water usage.

It’s been months and I’m still trying to figure out why AI data centers need fresh water. Not used water. Not recycled water. Fresh water???
